He is heads above Isiah. But he has been at it longer also.
how did you come to that assessment?
remember he had a top 5 player at his position to trade for kidd.
he also had the #1 pick who was hurt with marbury but played his first healthy season after he was traded.
he made a great move in trading eddie griffin for rj and collins but who knew eddie was going to be this problematic. the crazy thing is that over the longhaul, if eddie can stay right, he may end up being better than rj.
he drafted kristic and isiah drafted ariza.
isiah was able to turn absolute garbage + potential in picks/milos/lampe for marbury.
now, thorn did have better assets to work but he made the most of them. isiah pretty much had a bare closet and he's trying to make the most of it.
time will tell so i can't really say thorn is better than isiah.
Typicall intoxicated Kook Aid response!
Come on dude, the nets went to the finals two years in a row, and did pretty good last year! The eddie Griff trade was brilliant regardless of how good Eddie turned out.
He has proven himself with a limited budget, and set himself up nice the next few years. All this with his hands tied with a flakey ownership situation for two years.
Isiah has an unlimited budget, done some nice things on paper, and is very early in his tenure. Im not saying Isiah is not a good GM, but has not acomplished what Thorn did. Thorn also Drafted Jordan!
NOt everything is a slant against isiah! Lets not be so darn sensitive about seeing things only thru blue and orange glasses, sometimes the reality is what it is.
For all we know, Isiah could be constructing the largest and most expensive colossal Phuchup in any sports history! We don't know, but we do know Thorn has a decent resume thus far. What is wrong with giving props to a job done.
If I had my choice of either for 5 years, I would take thorn without even blinking.
In fact, there are GM's quoted in yesterdays papers whom thought Isiah's hiring was rather curious given his background and mixed success in his post playing career.
Like Layden before him, I root for Isiah to be spectacular, but am well aware of his shortcomings!
