did you guys see this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/19/sports/basketball/19knicks.html

"They gave up a lot of players," Wilkens, referring to the Nets, said after practice on Saturday.
...
"Seems like a lot," Wilkens said.
...
The relationship between coach and player soured noticeably in April 2003, when Wilkens was fired. Carter appeared to suggest that Wilkens was past his prime, saying the Raptors' next coach should be someone "who understands the game today."
...
"He could go inside, outside, he could run the floor," Wilkens said. "And when he wanted to, he could defend."
...
The Knicks and the Nets will meet on Jan. 1.

All i have to say is, i can't wait until the new year!

In this corner, Craw, Marbs and H20, v. RJ, Kidd and Vinsanity.

Let the Games begin...Houston, i think we have a rivalry.

I think, for the first time in a long time, the Knicks and the Nets are both good teams at the same time. All this goes out the window if Vince cannot stay healthy. If he returns to form and Kidd's passes help him, he will be the best SG in the east. We have 2 good SG's of our own.

If only TT can start playing upto his potential! If TT starts playing like he was at the end of last year, we have a far better team than the Nets. Right now, we are just slightly better than them.

The NBA needs a good rivalry.

Bring it on....

Isiah just needs to close Timmy out just like he did Shandon. If teams don't want Timmy, buy him out start Houston and stop benching Ariza.

That would be almost as good as a trade.

anyone who thinks the nets as a assembled are a good team better go back to reading basketball 101. yes they will have moments, but no frontline=no winning record. names dont win games, just ask the dream team or the yankees

you need COGS to win ----anchors and they have none. anchors are the guys that take you to the top. Curt Shilling=anchor Shaq Tim duncan===anchor ben wallace=anchor you need an anchor player to win in basketball especially. the nets dont even have a semblance of one. i guarante NO nets playoffs, not even close HIGH lottery pick.

What about a healthy Jason Kidd?

Still won't matter...currently the knicks matchup very well with the nets...Tiny Tim has already shown he can guard Carter, but our front line wins hands down (bench included)

I'll take sweets and Ariza and JYD over anybody they can take off the bench down low.

Nets are discussing a contract with Malone folks. Very scary buti'll be banking on the fact that Half man, Half a season and Malone won't last

Where did you hear this? Its kind of weird because even if they sign him, they would still lack some pieces to be a title contender, that is, if both are healthy enough to play. Strange because Malone has said he wants to play for a tittle contender. We'll see...

I also read that the Nets were looking into Malone, but in the same article, it mentioned that Malone doesn't have the interest in the Nets that the Nets have in Malone. It goes onto say that the Spurs are still the #1 choice.

from the nets forum at nj.com They are all speaking like he's already a Net.

Or what if the nets trade Carter to Portland for Shareef.

With the Nets frontcourt gutted after the Vince Carter trade, Rod Thorn reportedly has interest in Karl Malone. But it's not likely that Malone has the same affection for the Nets.

Two league sources said the Nets contacted Malone's agent, Dwight Manley. However, the Spurs are reported to have the inside track on Malone. Phone calls to Manley's office were not returned.

Brian Scalabrine will log the majority of the minutes at power forward.

"I just have to get used to playing that position, playing that role," Scalabrine said. "I have to get used to playing those kind of minutes. So it's just going out and playing every day and being consistent."

like briggs said, they have NOBODY to play down low. scalabrine and twin doesn't cut it. they may get by a game or two IF, that's IF, kidd, vince, and rj are hot. it'll be tough for them to run when they have nobody to rebound the ball - that's something they're forgetting.

i say they turn right around and move kidd for a young big and draft picks. this way you have vince, rj and whomever you get for kidd + draft picks to build on. if minny is a partner, move kidd for whatever salary matches but make sure griffin is included.
