Some of you still think that defense is overrated. I can't believe what I saw tonight. We were in a good flow offensively until the second half. Our boys constantly exhibit the same stupid thing, they create big lead just to turn around and lose in the second half. Until Isiah goes out and get a defensive minded type of player to get on the court with JYD and Nazr, forget about it. We will always lose these types of games. Poor shot selections, inability to rebound the ball consistently. Where was Sweetney our best offensive rebounder tonight????? We could have used him in the second half.

How would he have made any difference. I think knick front court played well considering what they were up against. Sweetney would have not made a difference.

I notice you dont like KT, thats fine. Right now I mad as hell at him for missing that free throw. But team had a defensive lapse in the 3rd. That is where we lost the game.

We definitely need better defense. Especially from the guards.

I think Sweetney could've helped. He is a good rebounder/shotblocker. That would've helped our defense A LOT! I know people want to blame Crawford but we lost the game cause we dont play defense.

Frankly, Lenny is to be blamed for the lost. The ball should have been in Marburry's hands not Crawf. I am sorry, when you have Houston on the right, Crawf should have gone left, with Marburry penetrating the middle; whomever was open would have gotten that ball if the shot wasn't there. Besides, worst comes worst, Marburry would have gotten foul by one of their big. What about that block shot by Prince?????

My problem with Kurt is simple, he is not athletic enough to fit the team that we have right now. Kurt would be more serviceable if we were to have a big man like Ewing with a stellar postup game. There were times in the second half where we were being killed on the offensive board while Kurt was simply standing around. Sweetney was needed at least in the last five minutes.

Knick guards shoot alot of long jumpers. Long jumpers means long rebounds, which means guards are expected to help out. KT averages a little over 10 boards a game. Sure we could have a more athletic forward but who is out there. The only person I can think of is Shareef, but that is it. People like kwame, and curry all have limited talent right now with potential upside. People like kwame and curry have no jump shot. So that eliminates the pick and roll. Which means that their defenders can cheat on defense because they dont need to guard him. It would be similar to how Nazr was guarding Big Ben. When Big Ben was on the perimiter, nazr was clogging the paint.

Kurt holds them back but he's a better defensive player than Sweetney. Hopefully Sweetney shows some signs of improvement though

Without Thomas's pick and roll, we would be toast thus far.

His high % shooting has been reliable.

He is no DICE, but a valuable player.

the game against NJ was a perfect expensive of Sweetney's lack of footwork and experience. He tried to set a pick but he moved and was called for an offensive foul. Kurt sets a perfect pick

The NYK defense wasn't so bad last game. It was their inability to execute plays on the offensive end. This is something I have noticed from the Oralando game it was very similar to this game. The Knicks hit everything in sight the first half but that goes away with a jump shooting team. It is very easy for opponent to take that away from the kNicks. It happened again last night. The have to get a stronger post presence than what they have. As well as KT has played of late he isn't that type of player that draws fouls gets to the line and demands a double. Once again the kNicks played right into the their opponents hand. Pistons clamp the NYK shooter and they settle for a tough jumper instead of taking it to the hoop strong. Marbury is the only one who does this and even he sometime settle for a jumper. Very rarely does the NYK scoring come from a short FG attempt most of the attempts are 15 feet and out. They have to have a better game closer to the basket. This will open the shooters up some.

good post Vmart Sweetney needs to at least split time with KT . He doesn't have to start because then he gets in foul trouble but we could really use his post presense especially in the 2nd half yesterday.

It sounds like he would be guarding our own guys.

Sweetney definately needs time out there, he has developed a nice low post game and also a nice turn around shot. But he is to predictable on his post moves. And he hasnt figured out how to read the defense in the post. Watch the next game sweets plays the low post, he travels sometimes. It's like he is leaning too much on the defender then they do the rick mahorn on him. I would love to see this line up in the game. KT & Sweets. with Marbs, Craw, & Houston. Sweetney is really good at finishing around the basket. Better than anyone forward in his class.
Bottom line is he needs more minutes because right now he is playing like he is nervous.

not to nitpick about one shot, because jc will usually hit that kind of shot, but lenny WAS calling for steph to come get the ball. now you are right steph should have had the ball and drove to the hoop. but don't blame lenny for this one, unless your gonna blame him for leaving moochie in too long. which he did.

First time ever that Peter Vescey has written something that is worth reading. His analogy or better yet, the criticism of Lenny for what happened in that Detroit game is right on the money. He has voiced the opinion of many of us KNicks fans and I couldn't be happier reading that story. Let see what he does in tonight's game.
