Just to play devil's advocate: If we waited until this summer when TT and Penny had expiring contract, would you want Isiah to use those expiring contracts to get Vince and Rose or would you rather he got players who better addressed our needs? If you gave the latter answer, then why not wait until this summer when they do have expiring contracts and we can get players who better address our needs?

let me tell you the two people who are watching this closely: david stern and james dolan. for dolan, sellouts out the wazoo. will it mean more wins? i don't know. having one of the three popular players in the nba is HUGE for new york. david stern would be glowing especially with the state of the nba today. he wants this done, no doubt. now whether this is good. i like crawford a lot and he has the potential to be an all-star but he is inconsistent and his size limits him. he is 24 so his body should almost fill out but he is not going to be much bigger than he is already. if we get carter, i think we are closer to a championship in the near future. we would have two superstars and even though carter's numbers have dipped, he is still a superstar. he was relatively healthy last year and played most of the season. he is more clutch than marbury and can do everything well. is injury and attitude an issue? yes. but it a risk i am willing to take as long as marbury or naz is not part of the deal.

VINCE ON DECK?: Toronto management is said to be getting antsy about trading Vince Carter, which could be beneficial to the Knicks. The Raptors are reluctant to deal Carter for Tim Thomas and Penny Hardaway. However, the Knicks are one of the few teams that would be willing to take on Jalen Rose's contract.

Isiah Thomas is said to have no qualms about having five players on the roster - Carter, Rose, Houston, Jamal Crawford and Stephon Marbury - who are all used to playing big minutes and having the ball.
i wouldn't mind because either Rose and Carter could be traded to upgrade the front court.....like say Rose for Shareef.

Please don't trade Craw or JYD

Cmon Eny, Craw is becoming a glorified "RUCKER PLAYER" guys get off watdching him shake people down and leaving hanging.

He can make the cowd oooooohahhhhh and still miss his shot, dude has the mentality of a play ground legend.

Personaly I think it's between the ears that's his problem when it comes to decision making, not his maturity.

I think that's the only style he wants and knows how to play.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Do NOT trade craw. I really would like VC here but not at the expense of craw. I like jyd but I would put him in the trade if that was the final piece to make the trade.

I dont want to trade for Vince and Jalen Rose. Especially since we need a low post PF/C. We have guards. We dont need guards.

I agree with the expiring contract level of thinking. But here is the one thing I think Isiah is thinking about:

IF VC comes to the NY and explodes during the playoffs - within the realm of possibility if he is uninjured - his value just skyrockets. And if so, you can always trade him again.

He does have alot of Rucker in him.

Last night he was being guarded by your boy Rodney Buford and he put a 4 move combination on him on the elbow but settled for that jumper. He had everyone on the court dazzled. It was a terrible shot but Craw instills fear in whoever is guarding him......Imagine a coach having to deal with Marbs and Craw? Pick your poison.

Craw needs to stay in orange and blue.....if Toronto wants to make a salary trade then let's do it....otherwise do not trade Craw or JYD for Vince.

I'm convinced the problem is Rose and Isiah doesnt want him. Remember they didnt get along (at all) in Indy and Isiah helped push him out the door.

I think Isiah likes the idea of adding Carter, but you cant convince me he's going to take on Rose and his Shandon-esque deal. I think he learned his lesson there.

Crawford also got the line 11 times. He's not just chucking out there. Also notice most of the games where Crawford takes a ton of shots nobody else is doing anything. Marbury was 4-12 last night. KT was pretty quiet. Houston didnt really play. TT was his normal garbage self. Where was the scoring coming from? Bottom line is in an ugly game Crawford came away with 30 points 5 rebs, 3 assists and 3 steals and 11 FTs. Not all of the shots were good, but bad shots from him on a night like that are better than TT's postups.

How can you want to trade JYD in the deal for Vince Carter? I would NOT do it! Why would we want to do that? Like I said in my other post, he is a NEW YORK player. His heart is here in NY and we've needed someone like this for a while.

I would love to see Vince in New York. I think this atmosphere can help him take his game to the next level. A high flying (he still can! He just wants to get traded) SG, being traded for a pure shooting guard. That would be a good trade, of course with the intangables involved. I am excited to see what happens in the next ten days. I would love to see Vince in NY.

If Toronto really wants to be free of Vince Carter and Jalen Rose- they need to throw something back at us- yes, Carter is a star and Jalen is a good player- they need to throw in a few picks-

But- I seriously doubt Isiah wants to take on Jalen Rose- is there a three way possible- Penny & Timmy to Toronto, Vince to NY, Jalen to a third team with a player (maybe a big) coming to NY?

Actually, one thing I was thinking about is that with the ability of Stephon, Jamal, and Vince to penetrate and attack the rim, the Knicks should be able to get ANY big man (Shaq, Ben Wallace, Tim Duncan) in constant foul trouble.

Yes Yes. Let the doctors there deal with him. Doctors in NYC have many more patients to take care of.

Would you do this deal?

Vince + Rose + A. Williams + 2005 unprotected #1 pick (could easily be around #5)

for

TT + Penny + Sundov + Brewer + $3 mil + Houston's 2nd rd pick (could be around 40)

Toronto saves $65 mil and gets a lot of cap room and a chance to rebuild the roster. We get Vince and an awesome draft pick.

No crowd pleaser coming back in the trade for the Raptors....it will never happen.
