I have been getting some heat for putting Ariza in trade ideas. I have been hearing people say things like he could e a special player and he is untouchable. I agree that he could be a special player. However, untradeable?!?!? I think we have a different idea of how special he could be. What kind of player do you see him developing into?

Sweets on the other hand is big, a beast on the boards, and is nice around the basket. He is developing in the post nicely. I think he could be somehing along the lines Elton Brand. I can see it pretty clearly from where he is right now. Do others see this as well? If not what do you see in sweets?

And lastly which player do you think will develop into the better player? This is a different question than who do you think is better now. Who has the greater upside? My vote is for sweets.

Too hard to tell who will be better. Both are very different players.

Ariza is where Sweets was a year ago. He needs a lot of work and a lot of coaching. I don't think he'll have much value in a trade. We need to keep him for at least a year to let his game develop. He's a talented kid who has his head screwed on straight. He'll be a much better player this time next year.

promising futures is good but elton brand future is 'jumping for joy' good. I love sweets but doubt he will become the elton brand caliber player.

i don't think Ariza will ever be a decent shooter. He can be more a long the lines of a Bruce Bowen with more offense inside once he gets bigger and great defense and start on a good team.

Sweetney's potential is much higher. He's not Elton brand at 20 & 10 but there's no reason for him not to be a 15pts, 10 rebs & 2blocks player just because he goes to line so much.

Sweetney is going to be better than Brand imo. I said several weeks ago that in their matchup Sweetney more than held his own. Also, I think against Washington we would have won that game if he had been on the floor in the last minute. The moves this kid made at that size can't be taught as you can have someone that size but he's gotta have the genes to move that way. That's why I think Aguirre thinks he's gonna be better than he was. Weight training, conditioning is a much bigger part of the game than when he played. No matter you look at it his M.O. answers all of the questions. He needs to lose weight: shown he's a hard worker. He can't put the ball on the floor: showed ability against the Wiz to do that + hard worker. Can't shoot with range: showed that against Denver. He's too small for PF: along with that statement being absurd he's second in offensive rebounds and not starting. He can't score facing the basket: ask Washington. He's just plain ol' not ready: look at his numbers vs minutes ratio (can you say sleeping giant...yeah I know it sounds corny). Now ultimately the reason I feel he'll have a better career than Brand is because he's in the right situation, at the right time in the right place. Bet if you spoke to Brand he wouldn't mind about playing at home for Lenny & Isiah with Stephon. Kurt will give way one way or the other (certainly not knocking him)....it's just a matter of time. Sweetney is gonna be great. That's just a matter of fact.

no way. Sweetney hasn't shown any signs yet that he'll be better than Brand. I think you're just severely underrating Brand.

There aren't many players on this team that should be left out of trade discussions... however, Sweetney and Ariza are two of them. Ariza is 19 freakin' years old for pete's sake!

He should be shooting 1000 jumpers a day in practice. He'll be fine... good pick, building block.

Yes Way (like George Carlin in Bill & Ted's Adventure) Brand is a hard worker for sure. However his circumstances...ie. the teams he's played for...leave a lot to be desired. I didn't say Brand wasn't very very good. I said Sweetney will have a better career than Brand. I go by what I see. I see Brand play pretty good but I see his team racking up losses (jury's still out for this year). I see Sweetney playing great without nearly the same time on the floor as Brand and playing great. This is mainly because of the teams and organizations they play for. What would Brand be if he played for the Lakers...or even last years NJ Nets...or for that matter the Knicks. He'll be a better rebounder than Brand and a better low post scorer (call me crazy..i'm sure you will). I am simply saying that I think Sweetney has what it takes to be an all-time great for the Knicks.
