but no Nazr

Sweetney and KT for curry and Piatkowski

i think we couldve done this atleast once. to say these guys are untouchables is crazy. the only untouchable on the knicks to me is starbury, and really now i dont want to move nazr.

on a side note, we must bring in the reigns of crawford. we must make him play more under control. he has a lot of talent, but his basketball IQ is very poor and his defense is scary. hes a tremendous liability on the D. marbury isnt that much better neither of them can defend quick players. marbury can atleast get away with it a bit, but craw is also hurt by his size and strength. its either blow by craw or push craw into the basket.

Curry worries me. Even in a contract year, he can't give any effort on defense or rebounding. There are other young PF/Cs I'd rather go after: Chandler, Nene, Kwame, Dalembert, Stro to name a few.

For the right deal, of course I'd take Curry. But I wouldn't give up Stephon, Jamal, or Nazy for him. And I prefer to use our top trade assets over the next 1 1/2 years on other players.

RE: Jamal: I think he is playing hard on defense but isn't strong enough and doesn't have good instincts.

I would be reluctant on this trade. Curry has done nothing to impress me so far, and I haven't seen Piatkowski yet, so all I have to go by is a 34 yr old whose averaging 6.3 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 1 asp, in 16 mpg on the Bulls.

Curry's got the kind of body to be a 25/10 player, but yet in a contract year, he can't even average 6 rebounds a game. I've lost nearly all interest in him. He looks like he just has no motivation.

to me, he's shown enough flashes of brilliance during a long stretch of games last season that would allow myself to take the chance on him again...i don't think Sweetney will ever be a superstar player for this team no matter how hard he works (just my opinion) whereas Curry has the body & talent to become that if he applies himself...

it's a big risk when you look at guys like Tim Thomas who have all the tools but none of the desire to be great players, but Curry's youth & the fact that he's a big center is enough to make me want to pursue him...you can't teach size afterall.

Sweetney isnt untouchable but at least he plays hard. I would make the same trade for Chandler. He's been hurt but he plays hard and works hard.

Chandler and AD for Nazr/KT/Ariza/Mooch cash (to buyout Mooch)

It's not that he isn't worth the risk. It's that we have a limited number of trade assets and I'd rather use those assets on other young big men like Chandler, Kwame, Nene, Dalembert, Stro

make it a 3 way

Ny trades KT MS and houston 2nd round pick in 2005

NY receives Eddie Curry Voshon Leonard and a LP number 1 pick from Denver in 2005

Chicago trades Eddie Curry and Eric Piatkowski

Chicago receives Mike Sweetney and Kurt Thomas

Denver trades Voshon Leonard and a 2005 #1 pick lottery protected
Denver receives Eric Piatkowski and Houston 2nd round pick in 2005

one question, isn't curry a center that doesn't play defense? if so, then isn't that the exact opposite of what we really need?

he gives us post offense but don't we still need that rebounder/shot blocker at the 4 spot then?

why not concentrate on dalembert or kwame (who will at least rebound) first?

curry's not even putting up nazr type #'s. he could be a superstar, but is post offense and no defense a higher priority than a defensive center?

btw, and on giving up sweetney...this guy's post game is there. for some reason, they just don't run enough plays through him in the post. he's setting some high screen at the top of the key. they are really misusing him.

mike is slow footed in 1/2 court defense. but i think he provides something offensively that no other knick can. the problem is, we never really get a chance to see it.

Jerome Williams has TONS of heart & desire...that's not going to make him a superstar player anytime soon...we need to get some more talented players & work from there...Curry will still be a tradeable asset w/more value than Sweetney if you make this deal anyway because C's are such a rare comodity these days...i think the risk is minimalized somewhat due to that aspect.

i would love to get Dalembert or Kwame...if you can get them, go for it...i think Curry is the more realistic option right now.

finding an athletic shotblocking 4 like Stromile Swift is alot more feasible w/the MLE than it is getting a legitimate low post scoring presence & starting C w/size & youth like Curry.

See, I dont think Dalembart is an isiah type of player. I do think he could be had right now, I think the Philly coach is off his rocker the way he formulates that rotation which has killed them.

This is why I like Curry- Curry DOES not have to be option 1-2, he simply has to be able to be a low post offensive target and help clog the lane on the D. He wouldnt be getting dishes from kirk hinrich, he would be getting them from Marbury. I really do think Marbury can make Curry much better for the team, All of a sudden you have Curry down low with Nazr attacking the O boards. The coach MUST deamd better ball movement from Thomas and crawford and both need to move to the basket when they can.

We get Curry this year and make a move to stregthen back up 1 3 and 4 for next year and we should be much much improved.

Can we get Wayne Simien to repalce Sweetney? i think we can? Can we sign a Matt Bonner to a 2 yr 3.5 exemp + Antonio Daniels to a 3 year 15mm? Can we go out and acquire a Curtis Bochardt? I think we can do some things for sure. Will trevor Ariza be improved? I think a lot of good things can happen, but I think we should go for this C while we can do it.
