We need a tough shot-blocker. Diop could come really cheap.

The Cavaliers are looking to deal Dajuan Wagner and DeSagana Diop for players on the end of their contracts.

Would he really help? We already have Baker playing monopoly in our bench...

A strong 21 year old 300 lb 7 footer who averages a block every 10 minutes? Why wouldn't he be worth the risk? We wouldn't have to give up much at all. Get him to work with Aguirre too. Look at what it's done for Nazy

He is overrated fat and lazy. The cavs are playing the rook over him thats how bad he is. we have enough dead weight in Mooch and Baker we don't need to add 300 pounds of fat to that.

If we can't find another solution to C, and if Cleveland really is looking for expiring contracts, I'd be for something like Moochie (cash to buyout last year) for Diop, filler, and possibly a 2nd rounder depending on the filler.
I would much rather see if we can find a defensive C with TT or Penny's contracts tho. If we can, this would just be a waste of time.

An OK plan B though.

I'd be very reluctant to trade Penny or TT this year unless we got an outstanding offer because their contracts will have so much more value next year

I wasn't talking about trading them right away. I would wait until the deadline at the earliest, but at that point, say we did get Diop. We would have The C/Nazr/Diop. I would think having Diop wouldn't be as nice as having Moochie's contract at that time.

Diop's and Moochie's contracts both expire at the same time.

Oh they do? I thought Diop had a couple more years.

A shot blocker is not going to improve this defense. The team defense is what we need to pay attention to first. Nazr is doing a great job and I dont want to hear anymore about a Center replacement like an eddy curry or something. Nazr is putting up better numbers.

When you have a good shot-blocker, it allows perimeter defenders to play tighter because they don't have to worry as much about getting beaten off the dribble. No one's talking about getting rid of Nazy just to get a shot-blocker. He's not even part of this thread.

point is if you get a shot blocking center and want to play him then you bench Nazr and lose the things that he brings to the game. So yes he is essentially apart of this thread. Its not like Diop is gonna provide much more of anything besides shot blocking.

Give Diop minutes when we need him. There's no *automatic* minutes for Nazy. You have to earn them. Diop gives us another option. He gives us a shot-blocker when we need one. He's got the right body to be a good center. He's extremely young. You cannot possibly reach a conclusion about what he'll be able to offer us in the long-term when he's this young.

I thought Nazr was "A short-term solution to our C problems"
Diop is an ok prospect if you can get him for doodoo and a 2nd rounder. See if he's commited to playing ball or not first, or if he's just going to retire on what he made off his rookie contract and buy land in Africa or something (he wouldnt be the first)

Diop's offense is so utterly horrible, he would hurt our team more than he'd help.

Offense would not be the point of making the trade. We have a team that consists of Marbury, Crawford, Houston, Kurt, Nazr, Penny, Sweetney who is starting to become a nice low post option, and I would add TT, but his offense isn't be spectucular, and we are averaging about 95 points per game.
We're not desperate for another scorer right now. What we need is a defender.

I think you over value the worth of expiring contracts.
Yes, sometimes they can payoff, but how much more long term,
overpriced players is this management going to be willing to
take on, and that's what you are going to get with expiring
contracts.
