No Ben Wallace comparison intended. If anyone, you have to revisit the Brand comparison. He's only 6'8" and is top 15 in blocks (1.65).
I'm sticking with Sweetney growing into his own player, but I still think his resume can include shot blocking.

...and wow! Just noticed Kirilenko is averaging 4.43 blocks per game.

Ohh my! Imagine having a Kirilenko on this team... WOW!
We can only dream!

Unfortunately for Utah, he's out for about a month, though

Very unfortunately! How much are they missing his presence!

the team should be okay... they've got the pieces (ok... maybe not the "defensive" C presence inside, but Nazr is doing ok offensively).

Change the coach!!! Get someone who'll get these guys to play D!

I repeat, a new coach will NOT make a difference. Coaches don't teach players how to play defense. You trade for skilled defensive players, or draft them. You cannot, at this level, take any of these guys and _make_ them play better defense. It's up to the players at this point.

You think these guys aren't TRYING to play defense? They are, they're just not good at it, not individually, not as a team. If they were middle-of-the-league in terms of D, maybe ... MAYBE a different coach could work them into the top half of the league's better defenseive teams.

These guys are so weak on defense, both as a team and as individual players, NO COACH CAN MAKE THEM ANY BETTER. They will either get better as a result of playing together longer, or they will stay at the bottom of the league. How did Dallas get better on D? They traded away shooters for defenders, that's how.

I'm no fan of Lenny's laid back approach, and sure a case could be made for firing him, based on substitution patterns and playing time, but you really can't say this team's road record is his fault ... not yet at least.
