Missed the first half. I guess that was the one to watch.

That 3rd period was a killer. The zone just freaks us out. Crawford just gets pushe out further and futher. And don't care, just shoot baby! We adapted and moved the ball around, but not enough. Marbs was not poised tonite.

We need low post presence. our guards popping it won't do it, and we need are not adapting.

So many errors. I did not like the sub pattern either.

In short, they just ain't ready for prime time!

Check out my last thread, it will answer your question. We don't have a big man that we can go down-low, and we don't have a consistent Barry or Houston to knock down the 3 ball.

I couldnt agree more. The only way to beat the zone is with a low post threat and solid spot up shooters. Otherwise most teams would be more than happy to have you beat them with the outside shot. The easy buckets are in the paint, breaking down defense, which is what Crawford needs to do more of. He did a great job in the first half breaking down the D by penetrating, but then stopped. Penetrating on a zone is much tougher, but we need to figure that out a way to break that zone. Honestly right now the only way we can break the zone is if the shots are falling. Which is not good basketball, relying solely on your jump shot and no other aspect of offensive basketball

Another way to beat the zone is through great passing. We could have Marb, Crawf, and Penny in the perimeter, with either TT, Sweetney or Kurt and Nazr inside, the three guards could initially pitch the ball inside to TT as our post-up player, TT then could send it right back out to either Marb or Crawf, Marb or Crawf could swing the ball to the other side for an open shooter, i.e. Kurt or whomever has the hot hand. We don't have to shoot the three if we are moving the ball from side to side or side, inside, and right back out. 18 or 20' jumpers, better yet dunks. When you are a weak jump shooting team, or 3 point shooting team, you try to minimize the amount of 3s given.

you don't have to shoot long jumpers because of the zone, you need more penetration and ball movement, move the ball quicker than the zone can adjust and you get closer open shots, or have a post player who can draw the zone in and hit open guys for shorter shots, we are not adjusting, we have the players...

The problem last night was that the Magic had a total lack of respect for the Knicks low post game and they stacked the perimeter and pushed the Knicks out further than the wanted to be. The Knicks played right into the Magic's hand by shooting ridiculous jumpers from every corner of MSG. Lenny kept sticking with KT and brought in JYD who has vitually no offense rather than go with Sweetney the NYK's only post threat. Narz was rendered useless. The zone took KT's pick and jumper away. What the Knicks needed was a post up player and Lenny refused to trust Sweetney. All jumpers and no post game make the Knicks a dull team.

Marbury has to stick the free throws he should be able to do that in his sleep.

He has been good at the line, but those two were huge. It never should have been that close, but our end game was exectuted poorly.

Live and learn, its a work in progress.
