Just wondering how people compare Nazy to some other Cs around the league. (Forget about salary; just which player would you rather have on our team--both now and in the long term)

a. Kelvin Cato
b. Tony Battie
c. Brendan Haywood
d. Alonzo Mourning
e. Mark Blount
f. Raef LaFrentz
g. Chris Mihm
h. Dan Gadzuric
i. Chris Anderson
j. Dikembe Mutombo
k. Adonal Foyle
l. Etan Thomas

Call me crazy but, I wouldn't trade Nazr for any of these players.

p.s. but I happen to like Gadzuric and would welcome him as a backup

I like Battie, but long term, I'd have to stick with Nazr. I may consider Anderson, but everyone else is a no.

When I editted the list, I included Etan Thomas. I meant to initially include him but I left him off.

I would trade Nazy for Etan, Mihm, Blount, and Haywood. Those guys are about as good at scoring and rebounding as Nazy, but they're better shot-blockers (and most are younger). I don't think I'd trade him for any of the others. Cato would be tempting because he's such a good shot-blocker, but I think Nazy's scoring and rebounding is more important. I don't trust Zo to stay healthy. That's why I'd stick with Nazy.

If I had a five year guarantee on Mourning's health, I'd do it. He was the only one I even considered.

only guy on that list that i would like to have is gadzuric but nazr is playing better than him right now and i think gadzuric can be had for some sort of MLE deal - 3 years/9 mil.

Where is Kwame "check out his body" Brown?

Did you leave him off the list thinking that if you added him we would be on it? We would just forget?

Is this one of those polls where you ask, then tell us why we are wrong and tell us which one you like? Those are fun.

Keeping it relevent, I would pick Kwame Brown, Curry, or if pressed for someone in the list, Lafrenz.

I think asking this question after the last 5 easy games is kinda peak timing. His stock is up, but GMs know the real deal with these players over the long run.

None of those guys have the upside to exceed Nazr by much except Lafrenze brings a "euro" presence to the 5 that few can. If healthy, he won't bang, but bring other things to the court.

LaFrentz isn't a center. At least not in my mind. He also undeservedly makes an absurd amount of money.

Question was "salary aside". Nazr is not center sized either.

c, e, h, i and maybe d ... and this is from the Nazr for President guy. He's having an excellent stretch after mediocre play for many years. None of us believes he's a 15/10 guy for the long term, I don't think. Some of these other guys either have a higher ceiling or have done it for longer.

completely disagree, most of the guys on that list are lower end players.

We agreed on Haywood and Blount. I think Mihm and Etan have more upside than Nazy too, though. I like Nazy a lot, but if I could get a C who's younger and about equally good at rebounding and a better shot-blocker and defender, then I'd do it.

Nah, Kwame's not playing center. So, he's not on the list. You can still go to the other thread if you're having urges to look at a pic of his body!

Yeah, I meant l, not i (Etan, not Anderson). Anyway, good to see everyone so high on Nazr. I guess we don't need a center after all. :)

Yeah, I'll give him credit for bringing entertainment to the site. (I wouldn't quite call him my hero though!)
He's more of an ABB poster (Anything But Basketball)

TMS and I generally had the same views. The only ones we disagreed on were Cato and Mihm. Regarding Cato, he is a much better shot-blocker, but I think Nazy's a better scorer and rebounder. The key difference to me is that I think Nazy is improving much more than Cato and has more upside. Regarding Mihm, he's younger, a 7 footer, and a better shot-blocker. That's why I'd take him. Nazy is a better rebounder, though.
