Nobody will be talking about Lebron's ring in Los Angeles, but they'll still be referencing Steph's performances during their peak championship years.
You're going to want the same for Brunson, OG and KAT.
Once is nice and it vindicated the years of suffering through horrible management, but win it all 2 or 3 times and the legend will grow over time, not fade.
The early 70's Knicks championship era is still legendary after winning twice.
Do it again and you'll get to rightly claim your team was the best of its era.
Good point about multiple. Does not have to be consecutive but it helps. Deep run matters and then to overcome that and come back might be all more impressive? We'll see. Knicks were handled well by the Lakers in 1972. That season Lakers won 33 in a row which stand still as a record. I think the Bucks with Kareem ended it. It was a big deal. Previous record was 20 by the bucks just two years earlier. Before that, the 1953 Rochester Royals at 18!
That Laker team had overcome years of bitter disappointment. That knicks came back the next year was impressive! West, like Reed had an injury filled season having played just 31 games and retired.
Lebron?
To digress further. , the 2016 Warriors won 73 games. domination of the regular season but it was Lebron on Cleveland perhaps was his greatest playoff series. That Warriors team was no joke! We don't talk much about that one. Steph with his two regular seaosn MVP's also cemented that legacy.
To your point, a 53 win team that put it together could have some tarnish it. Two things would diminsh any doubt: A 60 game or better season and a second chip. Jalens a HOF player but an regular season MVP would put him in a lot of conversations. Knicks finish with a season best record would help that.
While this one is wonderful, should knicks not make to finals again or fall to injuries and not win 60 or better perhaps it would have some opening for legitimacy? Not in my book.
Ok, BlueKnickers talked me into not beeing content!
