He is not a good enough defensive player to competently defend while worried about not picking up another foul. Thibbs plays him and KAT too much after foul trouble. Moreover, we need JA well rested with at least two fouls available for the final 5 minutes of the game. Lastly, our offense becomes too predictable with JB at times. Mixing it up more and giving KAT more time as the primary option will put more pressure on Indiana. Tonight's game is another must-win.
I see the bold both ways. I agree with you. Towns and JB are already terrible on defense with no fouls. With two fouls they will play that “oolay” defense and just escort players to the rim, trying not to foul.
At the same time, those two are the top scorers on the team and needs to be on the floor for offensive reasons.
The good news is, deuce and shamett can score. Wright can play defense. So Thibs should now have the confidence to sit JB. Same with towns. Forces Thibs to play a traditional center lineup with hart back in the game and Mitch at center instead of towns.
Thibs is the key. JB and Towns will not play defense with 2 fouls and Thibs will have to manage the rotation like he did in game 3. Will be interesting to see how game 4 plays out.
