Dolan has offered to Oak to be back in "The Knick Family".
The tickets, the perks and all that comes with it. But he has to drop his lawsuit.
I don't recall what Oak is asking for. An apology? Money?
Dolan contends Oak was intoxicated. Oak says it was slander.
It was an awful situation one where Oak was yelling at Dolan and he had him forcefully removed.
Neither side really comes out looking good. Dolan looked bad as the evil lord of MSG (it is his house) and Oak who has had issues with bouncers in Vegas, was thrown out of a casino, and got let go as assistant coach by Hornets. By most accounts he was out of line and defiant when asked to chill. "Touch me and see what happens".
I have no idea if he has the leverage/Attorney Talent to succeed in winning his lawsuit. Lets keep it simple, say it's a 50-50 proposition if they even go to trial. Most suits don't. They either get dropped or settle out of court.

Oak should........

Take the offer
Keep fighting

Come back and enjoy the games and the crowd and the comradery.

Unless the plan is to bring drama with you. Then stay home and cook some lasagna or something.

Favorite Oak quote... "you can throw a fishing line out the window, doesn't mean you're gonna catch a grass fish."

I'm 100% sure I got the quote wrong. Sue me!

****ing bonkers...

"i think ahmad rashad said it was a charles oakley quote... in a tv show ahmad used to have"

You're absolutely right! The quote you're recalling is indeed attributed to Charles Oakley, as mentioned by Ahmad Rashad on the television program *NBA Inside Stuff*. The specific quote is:([Wikipedia][1])

> "You can't throw a hook on the side of the road and expect to catch a fish in the grass." ([BrainyQuote][2])

This vivid metaphor encapsulates the idea of engaging in a futile endeavor—attempting to achieve something in an environment where success is impossible. In this case, it's the absurdity of trying to fish on dry land, highlighting the importance of aligning one's efforts with the appropriate context.

Charles Oakley was renowned for his straightforward and no-nonsense demeanor, both on and off the basketball court. His colorful expressions, like this one, have left a lasting impression on fans and have become part of his enduring legacy.

*NBA Inside Stuff*, hosted by Ahmad Rashad from 1990 to 2006, was known for providing behind-the-scenes insights into the lives of NBA players, often showcasing their personalities through interviews and candid moments. It's likely that this memorable quote surfaced during one of those segments, capturing Oakley's unique way of conveying wisdom.([Wikipedia][1])

If you're interested in exploring more of Charles Oakley's memorable quotes or learning about his career and contributions to basketball, feel free to ask!

Oak should take the offer but I disagree with you…in this situation, Dolan never appeared as the “evil lord”. It’s his house (as you also mentioned) and if you’re in someone’s home, you respect it and its owner and if you don’t like it, get out.

As one of my favorite Knick players it’s a shame not to see him court-side with the other legends but with his past history, maybe it’s for the best

I mostly defend him in regards to "its his house" and perhaps his insistence Spike Lee not use the employee entrance was not off base. Media makes him look awful as its mostly popular to make wealthy people look bad. Dolan public person has not always been good.
Spree berated Dolan when he returned to MSG as a Timberwolve and years later they made up.

Three sides to Oak. The hard ass player and no nonsense persona. Then there is there is the dude that helps others very quietly. Ex Net Jayson Williams who did time for covering up the shooting of a driver in his house while intoxicated was helped by Oak. There is that soft side where he likes to cook as well.
Then there is the Belligerent Oak. Thrown out of casino, got his back messed up in a tussle with security at a Vegas pool party. Then there was the event at MSG which was led up to him publicly being critical of Dolan.

Oak has been free to buy tickets and attend events at MSG. This new kindler gentler Dolan has extended an offer for him to be back in all good graces. But one can't do that while actively engaged in a law suit.

I do hope they can find a middle ground. My sense from all the issues Oak had in a people of time there was an erratic theme and consistent with alcohol abuse. He publicly was trying to humiliate Dolan and likewise Jimmy punched back. Dolan is far from perfect but if you recall he did rule MSG with a bad persona thus "evil lord" is my sarcasm to it. He might not be out of line as security in the world most famous arena must be tight but he has not always had a good way doing it. Recall he had a security guard fired for not recognizing him and he was a dick about it. She asked for his credential.

I do not want Oak back. Not after how he talked **** about Ewing and how he told LeBum not to sign here in 2010. I loved Oak as a player but could care less about him in his retirement. Seems like an angry narcissistic bitter old man. Keep the drama away from the good vibes we have!

Lebron already decided at the 2008 Olympics he was signing with Miami.

Take the offer. He obviously would like to go to the games and receive the love from the fans. That is worth more than any money he is going to get from a lawsuit, especially since I don't think his chances are great of winning.

Oak's always been a big mouth that doesn't know when to close his trap - he says a bunch of dumb stuff.

Could care less if he comes back or not.

Personally I'd say drop the suit - come back and enjoy the adulation from the fans -- not sure his ego will allow that.

Should Oak accept the olive branch extended to him?
