![]() Gus, brother of Ray.
We all hoped Ray who had game would be as good as big brother! https://www.nytimes.com/1981/05/29/sports/gus-williams-rejoins-sonics-for-3-million.html Interesting tidbit, one could get Sonics games on Pay TV for $120 the whole season in 1979. Had forgotten his contract dispute. He embraced his high hairline and was a hell of a player!!! |

![]() Ray was a rookie in the first post Clyde era. He played 5 years here before becoming a free agent and signing with Nets.
Ray could score, but his turnovers and inconsistencies were frequent. HIs second year Knicks drafted Michael Ray Richardson. Knicks had talent, this was mike glenn, Gondo, The two Rays, and Earl was still spinning era! Up front you had Spencer Haywood and Bob Mcadoo. this was Wilils reed as coach adn then Red came back. Eddie Donovan was also bought back. He was the architect of the great 10 years prior. on court talent was very good. Problem was cocaine. Spencer Haywood got lost in it, and Michael Ray, who might have been more talented than Magic Johnson got knee deep in it. As For Ray Williams, He passed in 2013 at age 58. Had a nice 10 year career with peaks at 20ppg. Just did not have the head to get to the next level. Had the athletic ability perhaps even greater than Gus. |
