We have watched the games, and the team has steadily improved since that first beat down from Boston. At first, I had serious reservations regarding the trade. But after the last 15 games, it is clear that KAT is a MAJOR improvement over Randle, and it is not even close. The ball moves more freely, KAT's perimeter shooting draws defenses away and opens the lanes for others, KAT is far more athletic than I realized, and KAT is a far more efficient scorer than Randle. But what the Piston game showed us is that KAT's presence on the defensive end of the floor is far more important than expected for this team. KAT is BIG. His rebounding is superb and just his presence deters drives. I am not saying KAT is a great defensive player, but he certainly is better than advertised, and I would say he is playing defense at a solid level. Towns is the 10th highest rated defensive center in the league according to statmuse.com.
We missed his size on defense Saturday against Detroit (as well as his scoring). Our defensive problems this year are not due to KAT (Mikal Bridges, I am looking at you), so I just wanted to give KAT and the front office props for pulling the trigger on this deal and his positive impact on this team.

his defensive rebounding is elite. It was a big thing Randle also brought to the defense. KAT is better. He allows OG especially to lose rebounding position in favor of defending a player or helping.

Loving most everything about KAT. I think the main thing will be keeping his overall minutes down. He's huge. The playing time has helped Sims and Huck looks like a nice prospect. Precious just getting back in Mitch in the queue. I like where our size and front court depth is heading. We have been leaning on offense cause that's what's been healthy. The muscle is getting healthy

He has long arms and great reach and mostly good hands - lets him clean a lot of defensive boards
