He looks like an elite rebounder to me out there. The only worry about KAT is his drop coverage. He's great 1:1 defender on bigs and a force on the boards.

At this point, he is playing the Hartenstein role of breaking the trap on Brunson AND he's the only initiator of fast breaks on the team. When teams leave him he's not stuck at the 3 point line, he's in motion, pressuring the paint and creating more opportunities.

Ideally when Bridges gets more comfortable in the offense, he can also play this role, but he has been shaky as a ballhandler and has had some out of sync passes.

I am starting to lean this way too. Unless or until Jalen can figure stuff out better, especially the 2-man with KAT.

Question: If you the FO, do you think the Knicks still need Mitch Beast or will they trade him?

We need in great shape and mind right Mitch - yes. He does come with down side of how does his offense impact overall offense.

The difficult part is do you trust (keep) Mitch and he gets hurt again.

In summer my assumption was he is gone and never plays again but I just don't know what they are going to do. I think front office would move off him BUT Thibs may save him.

Remember - he can help defensively but he will hurt offensively and all the spacing & Kat drives we are seeing kind of get negated with Mitch. That said 20 minutes of in-shape Mitch is a nice thought.

Hypothetically, let's say there is a player named erb-Hay ones-Jay and he is good for 70 games a year and is a spacer defender at 6'8" who is a pure mix of OG and Mikal. He also is not a liability at end of game as he shoots 80% from FT.

KAT will play 35 minutes game during playoffs when not in foul trouble.

Which player would Thibs prefer for a whole season?

Player option on last year of each. Philly could have outbid NY easily.

First 2 years of the deal you still have to say PG, and with Embiid's health and age (at 30 his peak may not last THAT much longer with the recurring injuries), he was the play for Philly. That said after our series against them I was convinced Philly was gonna make a play for OG and it was probably one of the main reasons why we needed to up the ante. Once Philly was playing in the 40mm range, going for the surefire star in PG probably made the most sense given the cost delta.

Embiid's gonna need some time to recover from whatever it is he's got these days, but the level of discomfort he appeared to be in last night would be really troubling if I was a Philly fan. He was an absolute shell of himself. We're worried about our stars not coming together, but they are 2-8, have injury issues and they need to hope Embiid was just thrown off by the blue floor last night and isn't permanently broken.

I did not even realize this but PG is going to be 35 in May. 35yo in May! Holy cow. OG turns 28 in July, he is 27yo this entire season.

Last 5 years of PG: 74, 56, 31, 54, 48. He is in line with Mitch, except in his contract year.

PG beat us in the playoffs the last time we had a good team and that was around 4 teams ago. I'm surprised he isnt 40 years old - that was like a generation ago.

He's the only player from that roster still in the league😱 Four of the players who were on the Knicks roster are doing podcasts right now. Kidd and Pablo are coaching.

The most surprising thing about KAT is how good of a passer he is. I had no idea. The wrap around pass at that angle and he hit Hart right in his shooting pocket with enough force to get there before the defense can react is amazing.

His skill level on offense is off the charts. Sometimes he does things that are truly astonishing. He is locked in right now - just needs to keep his head and stay out of foul trouble. Easier said then done, but I feel like Thibs has done some good things over time with foul prone players.

His offensive capabilities really shine as a center. Not so much as a PF with a non shooting center. So it’s a mixed bag with towns. Love the offense and wish his defensive effectiveness was more impactful. But definitely the best offensive big in the league regarding his diverse skill set.
