In a video above, you can see how on a screen, Bridges doesn’t rotate, leaving a guy being double teamed without a purpose, as Brunson has to cover two guys on the other side and he doesn’t move towards the eventual open 3pt. It happened so many times that it was amazing that we held onto a lead for so long. This defense is a problem. You might want to blame Towns because he isn’t Mitch or IHart, but the problem goes well beyond him. I see more issues in Bridges, Hart and Brunson. They look lost whenever the opposing offense makes quick passes and screens. And their confusion seems to become lack of effort, because they weren’t pushing themselves more on the 4th quarter. Granted, Thibs doesn’t help playing them 40+, but still, they’re no longer playing with pride on defense. It seems like they just don’t care and accept the open 3s. It’s ludicrous to expect this team to be good with a defense as putrid and an effort as embarrassing as this. Knicks_Fan

What this shows is that our defense has been trash for a long time but having both iHart and Mitch masked it because they covered a lot of mistakes made by the perimeter. KAT is not able to do that so the warts are there for all to see. Thibs is said to be one of the best defensive coaches. So now is time to earn that new contract and fix the defense. |
