On the starting 5 this year we will likely have Hart starting with OG MB kat Brunson. I'd rather have Hart on the bench cause I've always seen him a bench role player. However, thinking of Hart in the starting lineup makes me recall RJ and how he fit with the starting unit with Brunson Grimes RJ Randall and Mitch. RJ is a better player then Hart overall but in our current starting lineup Hart is playing the role RJ played as like RJ he will guarding players from 2-4 and will be asked to improve his outside 3, and drive, push the ball, rebound with the starters and be featured on offense when playing with the bench.4 Interested to see what Josh does this year. With Kat Brunson, OG, MB he will have shooters spreading the floor.

I think thibs is gonna go with a more conventional lineup.

Jalen
Bridges
OG
Precious
Kat

We have 4 40% 3pts shooters in the starting 5 and size at almost every position. Defense is good at 3 positions.
The bench needs to be potent as well. With McBride, Payne, Hart, Shamet, maybe Sims and one starter, the bench won't lose too much minutes compared to other bench units.

I disagree that RJ is a better player overall. He might be more bullish about creating his own shot, but they are often bad shots, and inefficient. Hart is better at everything else and makes the team better

I have a hard time thinking there's an SL without Hart in it after the way he used him down the stretch of last year. Hart fills every gap that might exist in the SL. Unlike Barrett, Hart can feasibly attempt to guard 4 positions, gets offensive rebounds and not only can he initiate the offense or transition, he can post triple doubles.

Will be curious to see a more mature RJ settled with Barnes, IQ and others in his town. Kid gets traded "home" and his younger brother dies. Has to be awful. He has his job to do.

Question is are knicks better with Hart? They are such different type of players and the knicks are a different team than when he was here. RJ is a scorer and avg defender who whose playmaking was improving. He and Randle were not a very good fit. Josh is not nearly the offensive player and his handle is not great at times but an absolute dog who changes the energy and that in effect can change a game. Josh fits on any team. RJ, not so.

RJ in TOR for 32 games was incredibly efficient all around player. It's like IQ last year, something just clicked.

We'll see if it sustains though, those were low pressure games with TOR not expected to win. Mikal was a 26ppg beast for 30ish games with BK when he was first traded. But the league caught up to him a bit as a #1 option and his scoring/efficiency plummeted last season.

So hard to say who's better right now, always loved RJ. but Hart might definitely be the better fit now and much cheaper.

RJ is a better scorer and might be a better player, but Hart fills a role here and OG is here and thats what what elevated last season. .

I don’t see how you can compare the two. RJ is only useful as a top 3 scoring option and, well, thanks but no thanks

Hart can play with literally anyone and make them look good. He’s a glue guy and a gap filler. He’s not going to raise the ceiling but he’ll raise the floor

I actually don't like Hart in the starting lineup. Him and McBride off the bench is a nice duo
I say he starts Precious at the 4. Precious can focus on Oboards, steals, and defense. Hart gets min touches like Grimes as a starter

his ability to fill out the stat sheet speaks volumes of his fit. He's in his best role starting with these guys. He's great off the bench because you can sub him for so many players. He looks great starting with these guys IMO

Is Josh doing that take-first-couple-months to get in game shape again? I'm OK with that

Always... there were people last year crying like we gave this guy $80mm and he doesnt have a position and cant shoot.

I think we are all now pretty comfy with who Josh is and what he does (including keeping Brunson here for cheap)
