As an incumbant, Joe breezed through primaries, Kamala won't have to slug through that.

The previous money, strategy, VP pick, RNC focus was all on Joe, ie. none on Kamala and now the Republicans and everyone else's $ behind those efforts have to be rethought and re-spent.

She and the Democrats just got a bounce that could carry them if they play the VP selection correctly.

Everything the RNC just ran on the Dems can point right back at them.

Kamala will cut him up in a debate.

also the biggest thing GOP had going for them was Biden's age and cognitive decline (despite the obviously same thing happening w/ orangeblobman)

Dont phuck up the VP pick and they got this

If it were only so clear cut what's not phucking it up. Should the VP candidate come from the more progressive or the more centrist side of the party?

I lean more progressive, but a centrist with a military background. Sen. Mark Kelly from AZ comes to mind.

I read this somewhere and it's perfect. Moderate white guy who's well liked from a battleground state. I am NOT looking for the best person for the job. IDGAF about that. All I care about is winning and seeing project 2025 and the orange blog vanish to obscurity. That is literally all that matters. WIN

What a surreal turn of history in the past week plus. Everything turned upside down. Don’t like Trump but glad the guy missed. Do like Biden but glad he stepped aside. Going to be interesting….

Found this in the Daily Beast.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/mark-kelly-spaceman-heroand-kamala-harris-best-choice-for-vp?ref=home?ref=home

It’s early going in the process, but Kelly is emerging as the one who checks most of the boxes. “He’s so down to earth for someone who’s been vetted four times to go into space,” says a Kelly booster, noting that, “He’s not an electric campaigner, but he’s what she needs—a very stable, grounded guy with a lot of experience, a hero too.” His website states: “As a Navy pilot, he made multiple deployments on the aircraft carrier USS Midway and flew 39 combat missions in Operation Desert Storm.”

Arizona has a Democratic governor, so Kelly’s Senate seat is not at risk. Should he head to the White House, the governor would appoint his successor.

Kelly is smart and cool in debate, and he’s tough on border issues, which could help blunt attacks on Harris as Biden’s “border czar” who is complicit in the passage of illegal aliens entering the country.

Kelly is also married to Gabby Giffords, who was shot in the head in 2011 in an assassination attempt and mass shooting while a member of Congress. After an arduous recovery, she founded a gun safety group that bears her name. Her presence on the national stage alongside her husband would amplify an important issue for Democrats.

I just heard Harris's first speech of the campaign for President, and I was struck by how much more self-assured, and a better communicator she was. More down to earth as well. The whine in her voice which was grating 4 years ago is gone. She looks to be a better campaigner this time around. Four years as VP and having a front row seat of what it takes to be President helped.

"just sign Precicous"!

Kelly would be a good pick. One would hope this gets a bit scientific as to the formula of winning.
This vs. Trump who goes by loyalty and who sucks his dick best.
In the movie, Kamala wins and goes after trump hard. Not just during the election but due process and sell it.
To me this is not about conservative republicans, its about no respect for due process. These Mega heads want law and order but in mob hoodlum style. We are country by the people for the people and while imperfect for most of its existence we at least strived toward the constitution, not stick our middle finger at it.

This Supreme Court is corrupt and needs to be rebuilt. Im not saying rid of the conservatives, just get it balanced and on point. Clarence Thomas is corrupt. I want reforms to prevent bribes and influence. WE can't let trump get any more seats on the bench. Its bad enough.

I hope the Dems have an open convention and at least give Michelle Obama a shot. I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have debate Trump because she is so impervious to personal attacks. I think there's already a lot of negative ads about Kamala prepared by the rnc, but I think they would really struggle to find negative things on Michelle.

Kamala should have the delegates secured soon, so no open convention. Zero chance anything outside of that would have been left to happen.

A fight at the convention would set the Dems way way back.

Vance might have won "The Apprentice" to gain Trumps love but he is a dim witted hypocrisy problem for him and the GOP. Trump goes with loyalty over intellect. Donnie thought he'd wipe the election vs. Biden but Dems got a huge boost.
Lets be honest, Maga devotion will never waiver to Harris, but the middle thin margin is where the election will be won might.

Maga made a big deal about Biden age. They set the table for Harris to paint Trump similar.

Agree about winning.
Problem picking VP has always been figuring out the pulse of the party.
You pick someone too centrist and the left leaning progressives get mad.
You pick someone too progressive the centrists get mad.
I would think the party’s recent wins in state elections showed that the way to win is focusing on abortion. That and someone who is outspoken against Trump.

Btw, get ready for “they cheated” narrative. Already started from media regarding the way Harris was picked and how it was without a vote from the people.

I do wonder if any of the recent and surprising wins (surprisingly dominant win? I don't keep up enough) of the left leaning parties in Europe would influence or press a hand on the VP pick or some other decision making.

Maybe Kamala was the result of that decision.

Excellent spot on analysis IMHO. Whoever is the vp selection is he will have to deliver a swing state. The names I have been hearing is the governor of NC, Coopper, or the gov of PA, Shapiro. I would like a midwestern gov but no one fits the bill.

From what I've read, she has zero interest in going into politics.

Thanks Martin. You're the man.

I thought it was significant in Obama's tweet he praised Joe but didn't endorse Kamala. There's still a lot of time between now and the convention. If Republican attack ads start hitting Kamala, maybe the convention opens up. I'm not sure how binding the preconvention endorsements are. I'm not really sure why the msm didn't make more of Obama's tweet. It's Kamala's game to play now. It's too late for Michelle to jump in and play the spoiler, but she can still play the saviour.

It was significant in the opposite direction you think: Obama never endorses in the same way you expect above. He did the same for Joe until Biden got the acceptance of the party first. That's how Obama handles his business.

Can't say I'm overjoyed to hear that. I have doubts about Kamala.
