![]() I'm stealing the thunder from RealGM: https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=114388234
I forgot that the Knicks have the 2025 second round pick from the upcoming elite tanking machine called the Brooklyn Nets. We shall cheer for them to fail and they will love the support, their aim is clear. This is going to be a 31-35 second round pick for Knicks next year? Deep draft and this can be a very nice selection. Knicks own rights to Detroit's 2025 1st pick if it is 14-30 or 2026 1st if it's 12-30 or 2027 1st if it is 10-30. This pick feels like it will mostly likely transfer in 2026? Cade/Ivey/Sasser Washington pick is trickier: Knicks will get their 2025 if it is 11-30 (nope) or 9-30 in 2026 (prob not); if pick does not transfer as a first rounder in 2026, we get their second round pick which would most likely be 31-38. The vet players Washington have brought in are at least in the semi well thought out area: Malcomn Brogen at PG and Jonas Valančiūnas at C, both are at least stable presence at the most important positions for a young team, hopefully they dont get injured for too much. If Washington gets a special player in the 2025 draft, maybe there is an outside chance the Knicks get their 2026 first rounder? Last time Washington was above .500 was 2017-18 and all it takes is enough frustration by owner or a player and they can make it to the 9th pick in 2026? We shall see but very iffy. Brogdon/Bub/Butler
In 2026, Knicks will have their own pick and perhaps Detroit's in 2026. The Knicks will have a lot of possibilities with this pick via Detroit or another team. Knicks will also most likely NOT have Washington 2026 first rounder but will get their second rounder 31-38. 2026 draft is supposed to be very good too. Don't know how to compare it to 2025 but I've read just as deep/talented, I could be off on that. Summary: very high Brooklyn 2nd in 2025, Knicks own 2026, Detroit 2026 (12-15?) and Washington second mostly 31-38. That Detroit pick has very good probability to transfer in 2026 (12-15?) or 2027 (10-15?). Knicks have movable draft capital for 2-3 years that are not too bad.
