They paid him almost $30mm a year. Tough to say no there. Thanks dude! Good couple years.

Knicks will be fine IMO... his durability was the key. His passing was nice but that gets mitigated by Randle's return.

I think we are fine w/ Mitch/Simms/whoever Leon adds

He's worth it. Wish we could have kept him.

I don't think Sims can really be counted on when it matters.

we'll be fine, Thibs does a great job of maximizing centers. Even Precious back would be fine, he can shoot a bit and cover more perimeter ground.

This would solidify him coming back, right?

He got almost double the money he could have gotten here. And they are the top seeded team in the West with a young core so it's a good situation. Hard for him to say no.

Really hurts, he was highly impactful here and I think an underrated engine for the team. Definitely hurts Brunson as he was a great screener/outlet from the doubles.

If not Precious we'll sign someone and we'll be fine.

Ihart became a bit overrated. There was talk of even including Deuce to BK to clear the apron, I much rather have Deuce at $3m than Ihart at $18m. Centers dont get paid much anymore and when they do it's usually a bad contract rather quickly.

this is still a 55 win team.

Honest question: Would any of you taken the $74M for 4 over the $87m for 3?

I would have stayed in NY 100 out of 100 times.

Yes, but it’s not the end like a few are predicting. There are a few young centers available that could prove similar to him. Yes, he had already come into his own here and it sucks that he isn’t coming back, but he’s getting paid and there was nothing we could’ve done.

I really hope we can sign Goga Bitadze now.

Same, but I love NY and really want the Knicks to win a championship. Hartenstein is a pro who is getting his first real paycheck and joining one of the best teams in the league. He might regret it later when he isn’t playing as much as he did here because of Chet, but it makes sense for him.

Goga time, please!

All of this is true. iHart was the super darling of advanced metrics and it took him a solid 2 years before he was able to come up to speed.

It'll take a young center more time.

We'll cheer him when he is introduced upon his return to the Garden...and then boo his ***.

I think Goga has a lot of potential to do what iHart does, but I doubt he has the passing instincts. He definitely can hit the boards, block shots and has some offense though.

Hope it works out for him. Doesn’t sound that amazing for him after that detail. They know Chet is the future and also the present, so I’ll be curious to see the minutes splits.

We have Randle for that. Hartenstein did it because Randle was out.
