So this is obviously realistic but would essentially require them to roster 3 second round exception guys, so Jokubaitis, who they pick at 38 and who they pick at 51. Doesn’t seem to make sense since they will be really low on quality proven depth. They will need more.

So it comes down to either Hartenstein or Mitch gone. Can’t keep both and fill out the roster under the second apron. Right now they have about 7M left under the first apron, which isn’t much. If they move Achiuwa via sign and trade to a third team as part of the bridges deal (which seems like the only possibility to avoid being hard capped at the first apron), and if Hartenstein doesn’t come back, they would have about 17 million to work with under the second apron. That’s more than enough to bring in a center like Goga or Drummond at the 5.5M taxpayers exception, and resign Burks. But they would need Hartenstein gone and Achiuwa moved in the bridges deal.

If they brought back Hartenstein but trading Mitch, they could create about 15M in room under the second apron depending on what they bring back in return, if anything. So this is where things stand. The talent is at an all-time high but they need to get the center position and overall depth sorted out.

This is essentially what we have, and moving Achiuwa in a sign and trade as part of the bridges trade gets us about 17M in wiggle room under the second apron. Sign Rokas and it brings that number to about 15.5M. Use the taxpayers MLE on a center and we have 10M left to fill 1 roster spot (or 2 if they want to get to 15 players.) Could be resigning Burks at 8M a year and then signing pick 38 to a second round minimum contract. Or bringing in someone outside of the organization for the minimum. Lots of options but you get the point.

Can’t do it. Can’t combined multiple minimum players as part of the deal. New salary cap rule. It makes it impossible to send more money out without moving a higher priced guy.

Yes but this has been refuted by cap experts and he still counts as a minimum guy because he’s making the minimum this year. How he got the minimum is definitely a point of contention but unfortunately it doesn’t matter.

I think it was from Fred Katz that he reached out to a league office person on this very point.

interesting didnt know that... that's an odd rule though because we gave SIms more than min.

But aside from the math - the question is would Hartenstein take 16mm in a market where Nic Claxton gets paid 25mm.
Thats a hard sell. I guess the question is who will be the bid.
