The original (4 year $156M extension after he opts into his $25M 2025-26 deal versus 5 year extension after he opts out after 2024-25):

The follow up (even with the 4 year $156M type contract, he could still come out even with the next making up for the $$$ differential, this makes sense):

Signing the extension now is a win win. It takes the pressure off of the entire situation, gets him faster contract security, get him to his next payday faster, and wins the respect of the fanbase and front office even more then he already has because he’s the superstar leaving money on the table for the benefit of the franchise.
