Proud: started last night just reflecting on this season and how they never quit. They maximized their effort. They did not choke. The refs did not rob them. Exit interviews can always be discounted but I thought our leaders stood tall in those media sessions. No excuses given. Heads were up. They wanted more for themselves and for the city and the org. As a fan, I can't ask for more.

Determined: you could see it in the players and in Tibs, this team is not satisfied. The window is officially open and I would expect the whole org to return ready to take that next step. Again, what an example as a fan to follow. Excited to see what we can do in the draft, FA and into next season. So many ways to get better, this is day 1, and it starts today.

In sum, this was our best season in a very long time, maybe '99 , a time when most of the current knicks were still crawling. That season and team had some similarities, but had peaked as it would turn out.

This 23-24 squad seems ready to write its own next chapter and I can't wait to read it.

1999 was an underachieving team in the strike short season that needed a late season push to get the 8th seed.
The coach was to be fired by seasons end. Why? The team was build to run and JVG was a Ewing kind of guy.
That JVG made finals enacted a clause that gave him a 2 year extension for 2mil per season. Good money then and for really young coach. We had Camby, but Ewing got hurt and the end was near. He just did not know it.
In the end the team did fulifil its potential by reaching the finals. This Knick team was not expected to do much more than it did but that it did it with so many injuries one can say they exceeded. Thus I don't see similarities. That it went as far as it could is similar. in '99 we were no match for SAS. 2024 or injuries depleted to the degree we could not move past Indy. We took it 7 games, that was an accomplishment of sorts.
Grunfeld got fired after series. Our FO and coaching staff are solid.

Im not disappointed. My dour posts Leading jump to Sunday reflected not what I had hoped but expected. Not that Indy really figured us out, but we just ran out of gas. Carlisle said Thibs was the best in the business. He was out coached and knicks were so well prepared. I think he as amazed how good we did with what knicks had left. what a great compliment he gave. Carlisle got my respect with his gracious comment.
