Knicks have been dealing with massive injuries all year, but have not made excuses - always been "Next man up." Hartenstein becomes a starter and a critical piece of what we do. Guys like Deuce McBride went from never playing to playing 48 and scoring 20ppg. Precious Achiuwa was somewhat of an afterthrought in a trade, looked lost for 10 games and then was a crucial 40 min a night defense/rebound/finishing machine for a month.

We are keeping out hopes up on OG and Jalen bouncing back here, but it seems likely we'll need to have someone "new" contribute in the next few games in some meaningful way. Doesn't feel like Alec Burks right now, but here's a fun poll for us to speculate on who might be our next surprise hero! Honestly I'm not even sure how many of these guys are actually "active" for the playoffs.

"Shake" Milton is the one guy who has a real NBA resume and has been a rotation player and playoff player. Sims more than likely is the player that gets a chance for 8-10 minutes if Precious has to start at the 4 for OG.

Assuming he is actually on the team right now, Jeffries is a darkhorse as he was on the playoff roster last year. He has the most beef of any of the wings (6'5" 220) on our bench and profiles a 3 and D type. Miami turns out Haywood Highsmiths with regularity - I think the KFS pod compared him to Highsmith last night (i was half asleep), but maybe he can guard a wing and shoot a corner 3.

Alec Burks
Jericho Sims
Shake Milton
Mamadi Diakite
Jacob Toppin
Duane Washington Jr.
DaQuan Jeffries
Charlie Brown Jr.

We need a forward!!!!
This team is defying all logic. One could imagine still they sweep the Pacers or not win a game the rest of the way.
Brunson is doing superstar things!
NBA players is a grind. NCAA march maddness is one game eliminations and all kinds of crazy things happen. Best of 7 really boils to the top the best teams.
Remember when Memphis with its scrub Gleague squad beat us? Maybe Thibs rests all our guys? Don't even play them. Granted, of Indy does the same we lose some advantage but if our rag tag team can keep it close we can give our guys until sunday off!

IM spitballing here, not predicting.

Jalen hurting is problematic.

next man up? Deuce is doing enough to contribute to a 2-0 lead but if Jalen sits he has step up. Then either Shake or Burkes. Alec has some shoulder things going on?
Last night DDV hit the shots.

He will definitely pushing 40 mins at the 4 if OG is out which we expect. Means Sims probably has to find 10 mins or so behind iHart. It was only last month that iHart was on a 25-30 min restriction nightly!

Brunson
DDV / McBride
Hart
Achiuwa
iHart / Sims

Burks if someone needs to walk off an injury. Haven't seen enough Shake Milton with the Knicks. Nice wingspan. Seems like pretty average footspeed in the few videos I could find. Probably can hang with Nesmith in a pinch.

You know I gonna spin wit it

I saw Precious get visibly gassed last night. Be interesting how the minutes are played.

I think we got to go with Talent here. My vote is Burks. I know he hasn't done it this year but he has done it here before. I believe Deuce was -22 last night. It would be nice to have a vet for some of those minutes. Also, I think in this series we could go a little small because the Pacers do not scare me defensively. In theory, Burks could maybe match TJ McConnell, that little ****

Precious isn’t getting gassed - guy was playing 48 minutes without a sweat a month ago - he’s fine.

With no OG we are getting heavy Precious minutes with Sims probable and my gut says Shake Milton might show up / contribute more vs Burks

Burks played 40 seconds last night - it couldnt have gone worse. Think he lost his man/missed rotation and gave up a bucket. Then came down for one final shot and iso'd into a difficult contested fadeaway. I used to call him quarter Kobe b/c of 1/4 of the time he would make the Kobe shots and 3/4 of the time he looked like kind of a chucker. Its dissapointing because he was at bare minimum hitting 40% 3's on high volume for Detroit, and when he last played for Thibs was a quality defender. He has looked positively awful and apparently has a shoulder injury, so I'm not sure what to expect.

Its not like Milton is that far off of Burks - Milton is a bench scorer who can get hot from 3 and penetrate a little. Size wise a little smaller. It was strange that we signed him and never gave him any run, even when we were shorthanded. He only got garbage time mins.

Thibs would probably trust Arcidiacano or Taj more than these guys.

What I don’t like about Burks are the TO’s (sloppy with handle and god forbid he is inbounding ball in clutch), shot selection (seemingly takes the toughest shot available) and he is SOFT SOFT SOFT.

Outside those 3 things Burks is great.

Shake I could see taking advantage of Indy piss poor D and maybe getting in the paint or to the rim a few times —- maybe making some good decisions.

Not much confidence here but I will be hoping whoever we tap has brief moments of greatness.

It's going to have to be Jericho. Have Precious only play PF. Also, tell him he has the green light to shoot the open 3.

Burks deserves a shot. He’s still a rotation player on most teams in the league. He has the ability to give us offense that we desperately need. Cant expect the Nova boys to give us 100 points or close to it the next couple of games.

same SL we used vs. the Kings.

Bring in Burks/Shake/Precious off the bench

Precious was pretty bad vs. the Pacers but he's got the motor and keeps on going. I have no idea what we get from Burks/Shake

Don't think Jacob Toppin will get any burn but it would be nice to see him doing better then Obi in the remaining games. G league Jacob was entertaining

why not? Have you seen the Pacer's defense?

To me at this point it's all house money. Even if we lose to the Pacers... we all know the deal. I do think even if it takes McBride playing 48 a game we win this series. Maybe the Pacers regroup at home... we will see

Game 3 could be huge for the knicks. If somehow the next man up memtality gets us through this game and the knicks comes up with the win it will give us some breathing room for OG to recover. I love what the knicks are doing but how can they sustain this? I hope they can.

With all the injuries that is plaguing this team and the success they are getting to this moment, this team hands down has a better year than last year's

I dont even know how to improve this roster. For what Josh hart has been doing all season long, i cant see a starting line up without him. He should have cemented his place in the starting line up. The knicks could upgrade the sg spot but the role Divo is playing is perfect for the team.

Hoping they can get Game 3 and OG gets healthy soon.

So probably at least game 3 or 4 without OG. One of these guys is probably gonna get some time. I suppose I should have added an option for a 6 man rotation because that's not beyond Thibs I suppose!

Thing is I can't see how its Burks. He's had chances but hasn't even show a flash. His offense has been undisciplined and the defense isn't there.
