What is a good way to host edited photos so I can hotlink them, here specifically?

ChatGPT suggested the following, for Google Drive...

To upload, edit, and share images using Google Drive, follow these steps:

Upload Images:

Sign in to your Google account and go to Google Drive.
Click on the "New" button and select "File upload" to upload your image file(s) from your computer.
Alternatively, you can drag and drop the image files directly into Google Drive.
Edit Images:

Google Drive itself doesn't provide built-in image editing features like some other platforms. However, you can use Google's integrated tools like Google Photos or Google Drawings for basic editing:
Google Photos: If you have Google Photos linked to your Google Drive, you can open images in Google Photos and use its basic editing features like cropping, rotating, and applying filters.
Google Drawings: You can create a new drawing in Google Drawings and import an image from Google Drive. While the editing options in Google Drawings are more limited compared to dedicated image editors, you can still perform basic tasks like resizing, cropping, adding shapes, and text.
Share Images via URL:

Once you've uploaded and edited your image, right-click on the image file in Google Drive.
Select "Get link" or "Share" from the menu.
Adjust the sharing settings to "Anyone with the link can view" if you want to share the image publicly.
Copy the sharing link provided.
You can now share this link with others, and they'll be able to view the image directly via the URL.
Keep in mind that while Google Drive offers generous free storage, the storage space is shared with other Google services like Gmail and Google Photos. If you exceed the free storage limit, you may need to purchase additional storage or manage your files to free up space.

There's probably dozens of practical options. If you don't have Google Drive, got anything else? DropBox, OneDrive, etc.?

most people upload them on imageshack: https://imageshack.com/ and just link it from there... or they may link it from their own photo album accounts

Todd thanks. I have all of those due to moat phones not liking SD cards anymore. I tried linking from google photos and it came up as that little picture icon. I'll try following your suggestions. Thanks you.

Martin, thanks. I'll try that too.

Ok. So I got the hot linking to work. I probably misused the term. I wanted to be able to use the image tags here to post an image directly in a post. How would that work?

Reply to this to see how to add an image.

Note that you can select your image url, then hit the “Image” button. That will surround it with the img tags.

I tried that. This is what I get.

I'm trying to link images I made. I figured I needed a host site, but I wanted to know if there was another way

I now see people saying that Google started preventing embedding of images in January 2024.

I think Martin had a good suggestion in ImageShack.

I’m guessing you’ll have better luck with options listed here…

Yeah, I need both of you to keep your Doritos colored lipped, Cheetos crusted fingers away from my Molly.
