They gave us Rose that jump started a lot of momentum for this era.

They gave us the draft deal that opened up the flexibility for Brunson.

They gave us Bojan and Burks for very little outside of grimes.

And we have what I believe is our best draft pick and absolutely the most underrated which is the protected Detroit pick. Detroit is looking to reload this summer with cap space. I’m expecting them to overpay for a couple of guys similar to what Houston did last summer. With Ivey taking a step forward and maybe a healthy Cunningham, they can be bad but not terrible in a year or two. Their front office is feeling the pressure to start winning. That pick could be a late lottery pick in 2 or 3 years.

For Detroit the upside is that they kept getting younger and now have a solid group of guys around Cade Cunningham's age. Maybe in 4 years we regret battling the Cunningham During Grimes Pistons but hopefully we have a banner hanging by then. I feel like this is the closest we've been to a championship since Game 6 vs. Houston.

Detroit has made some bad decisions all around but they do have some good young players and could turn things around if they get some breaks.

Thanks for playing ping pong with Alec Burks.

Honestly I'm surprised they couldn't a first for Bojan. Yes they got Grimes, but we got 2 rotation players.

you called Brunson early and often. I was like no way we are signing him with our cap scene and you nailed it.

I also think Det values Grimes as a guy who can help. There's no advantage to tanking but I think they have some big cap space. IF they could get a squad of young guys that look good maybe they pull a Houston and overpay but get some vets that can help. Brooks/FVV have surely done that

We keep getting their good vets, their own draft picks keep getting better and better (losing wise).

Win win

I remember thinking we might get him at the deadline 2 years ago. I figured we would move some combination of Quickley, Toppin, Burks and return Dallas their pick back. They didn’t do it and it worked out really well for us.
