I think Achiuwa has the most remaining upside of anyone on the current roster. He’s raw, but man he has the strength, wingspan, foot speed to be an elite big man defender. His offense is so raw that he has a ton of room for growth. I actually would be taking my lumps in the playoffs with him knowing he can impact both sides of the ball. By next year’s playoffs we will be talking about how much he has grown. I’m a fan and am willing to suffer the shooting woes.

Just cause of Mitch, iHart. And when you have Hart out there, you can't have another another non spacing guy out there, it'd be too many. But he fits Tom's roster needs in a pinch.

He is a nice small ball 5 and if he finds a consistent shot - just like every other player - that'll be the difference between MLE scraps and generational stuff.

I hope he puts in the work. His qualifying offer is like $6.2M and I think if he doesn't extend in that range, he'll get exactly that and have another year to really prove himself.

Still not clear on a permanent role for him when the roster is healthy - and that's my main holdup on going above and beyond to retain him. If he's going to be your emergency PF/C, probably time to cut ties with Jericho and use a late pick on a new project.

EDIT: Thought the MLE was a bit higher than $5m. Keep it under $8m and I'm happy.

Im generally of this belief but not fable that he is going to get significantly better on offense because we want it to and we like him. Or he is or not client of CAA, or from the Bronx.
He is in his 5th year. has he put in the work previously? Maybe, and perhaps this is as good as it gets and Thibs got the best out of him. Another year to prove himself? Perhaps. Or take 3 years and 12 mil and maybe get the game well rounded and hit FA at age 27?
He is 24 years old. In NY they have dialed back his touches on offense vs. Role in Toronto and he is excelling at what he is good at.
Im not saying Toronto was ignorant to his abilities but his future there was done at age 24. They did not see him as part of their future. Knicks saw him as part of their NOW and he has been useful.
Im all for resigning him and he can be our PF/Small ball C if need be.
If he can improve, so much the better.
Or we can draft a better player or acquire one via trade. Many paths.

You are doubling down here and I think you are wrong. More wrong than right. I actually think if we get to face Boston, he is our best chance of slowing down the Celtics. His footspeed and wingspan will let him guard KP. I think you will see good plus minus against the celts with JB (holiday) MM (browm) Hart (white) OG (tatum) Achiuwa (KP).

I can picture a world where Precious one day is a 35% 3 point shooter. He has some big man handle skills as well. I think that's a good point where he still has a lot of raw untapped potential.

For big men that become 3 point threats, sometimes it takes awhile. Look at guys like Brook Lopez or Horford for example. I think Precious probably gets there as a good-enough 3 point threat one day.

If iHart or Precious develop a 3 point shot, it's over for other teams.

Precious gotta get that 10-15 foot push shot that iHart got going on too.

I'd like to see Precious copy OG with his paint scoring. OG can finish well with either hand but he does not have a natural touch, he's just worked at it, but even beyond that, his off ball cuts, his ability to catch in the paint, power dribble, get to the 2-hand dunk in traffic. OG does it with strength and quick feet. Precious could do it too. OG has innate sense of calm when he's playing in traffic down low. That part you can't really teach. Just great instincts.

I would think he's doing it in practice and he's just not game ready yet

I always have Brook in my head when people talk about shooting development in big men.

Probably a better example for Precious - Serge Ibaka.
