if you can get Lavine for Grimes and 2 firsts do we do it now?

Lavine's stock is super low right now but he is a Booker-esque offensive player.

Looks like the Knicks FO want to load up on defense and guys who don't need the ball to be effective around Brunson and Randle. And then I suppose the plan is to get one more star scorer to blend with those guys as the final piece.

OG is going to give us the production IQ does on low volume with better defense than RJ. almost like combinig those two players.

Grimes, DDV, Hart will play more now too and that makes us better.

Precious is a big tough body that we need now with Mitch out. I assume he'll play backup C and backup PF.

overall just balances the roster and I think it will help guys like Grimes get into rhythm and that also makes us better.

I don't agree. He is not better than both players combined. Knick fans down way too much on RJ just because he is struggling lately. Forgot about the big games already.

no he's not... but we are consolidating two parts into one that really fits, can play 32mpg, shoot and defend.

OG is very solid, he cant be the final piece though.

I also get us wanting OG as the east goes through BOS right now and OG is a big piece to defend those guys, and even the Butler's and Middletowns.

Like I said I can live with this trade if it is a prelude to getting someone like DM. Not sure if we have enough assets for that though unless Cle loves Randle or is happy with mostly draft picks.

I don't like this Knicks team as presently constructed. And OG was unhappy in Toronto because he wanted more of an offensive output. Not going to happen with Randle here.

If I had to guess, they already have worked out 80% of the extension and have at least the outline of magnitude, years etc.

I always felt a trade for an offensive star like Donovan or Lavine or Booker didn't work without a big, strong defensive 3. Need to counter the lack of defense you get at the 1/2 with Brunson and a guy like that. I think those guys make a lot more sense now for a contender than they did pairing them with RJ or Hart.

Knicks are notorious for giving up on good players when things get tough. This is a badddd trade fans and out of desperation IMO.

I think people need to see how easily Quick was schemed out of the game in the playoffs. He been getting overrated big time. He is a really good player during the regular season but once Clev and MIA pressured him he disappeared the whole postseason until he got injured.

Garden will love OG. They are all about scrappy defensive guys. He will have no problem getting love.

I love love love IQ but I have to agree with you, I won't go as far as you have though. Still young enough to get to solid playoffs performer and think he is the perfect 6th man but not starter.

I wouldn't go as far to say overrated, but just not prime time enough... yet.

Wouldnt be so quick to dismiss his game. Young players having a rough playoff run early on is common. Kobe airballed 3 three pt attempts his first time.

IQ was a reliable 20pt plus starter at two positions, and a 6th man finalist. They got a very good young player, who could be an all star in a couple of years.

Honest question: do you think the Knicks and OG have already worked out the outline of OG's contract?

Extension would mean opting INTO the $19M, and then maybe $25, $28, $32, $34? Or at least average of $30M for those 4 years?
