CANT BUILD A SOLID FOUNDATION
on top of two low efficient yet high volume 1 way scorers. Add in Brunson and now we have 3 offensive scorers who impacts with scoring and below average defenders.
Meaning, all it takes is one of the 3 to shoot a terrible % kills momentum because they are also on the floor the longest. This is where an OG type player who a low volume shooter and doesn’t need to high shooting attempts to impact the game.
We need to trade or move one of the 3 high volume scorers (RJ) to the bench. But our top 3 minutes players can’t all be low efficiency high volume scorers and below average defenders. OG fits and I’m sure there’s other low name wings that fit. Any high efficiency wing who’s above average defender.
Maybe.
But any good team needs a strong offensive player that plays down low, rebounds, draws double teams and is physical. Problem is Randle passes out to guys like RJ, JHart, Grimes etc. Low percentage 3pt shooters. And of course if you add MR, who clogs middle, Randle strengths can be taken away.
Agree that RJ is one dimensional. For now. Strong to basket but not much of anything else. His defense has improved this year though as has his free throw shooting. Already posted we need a upgrade at SF.
JB is definitely a high usage player. But feel he is elite and would be a key piece to any chip team. If you point to most high elite players in NBA, one can make the same complaint.
Easy to complain after playing a team that has a great chance of winning a chip.
Easy to say that changing one or two players would get us a chip. Don't see that
See a team that needs several pieces but is in the RIGHT direction. We have improved incrementally year over year . Especially in bringing in pieces that we needed. FO has done a great job making additions and then giving the new team a chance to show where other factors need to improve. No knee jerk fan Monday quarterbacking but instead careful patient analysis.
Think they are aware of needs and looking for sound solutions. Mainly, more consistent outside shooting.
Out of curiosity, who would you trade Randle and RJ for? What "more efficient" PG would you look to get?
