Knicks have 7 players on the roster listed as Sg's. 5 of these players (in bold) project to be rotation players

RJ Barrett
E. Fournier
Josh Hart
D. DiVincenzo
I. Quickley
Q. Grimes
D. Jeffries
D. Windler (2WP)
J. Martin (2WP)

IQ can be considered more of a low assist PG and Barrett and Hart more as unathletic wings who cant shoot. We are pretty small and unathletic again with little floor spreading shooting. A roster balancing trade could help but this looks like the group we are riding with. We are going to have to be physical and rebound our asses off especially on the offensive end. Our season once again relies on the play of 2 players, Randle and Brunson, to play at an Allstar level if we are to make the playoffs.

Barret and Hart are "unathletic?"

Its literally the same team that went to round 2 last year won a couple vs. the Heat. The team that finished exceptionally well in wins and offensive metrics.

We replaced the worst guy in the rotation (Obi) with DD. Its the same team except the expectation is chemistry and player development will yield improvements. Based on the roster age and make up that seems reasonable... except I guess to you

You are right about the SG. Its going to be a steady stream of 3 guard line ups because that's the strength of our roster and the best talent we were able to acquire. I don't see the roster as a finished product so this will continue to get the developing players minutes and help Knicks win game. Results will be telling.

Knicks will be 4-5 seed

We are physical and that worked for us last season. Athletic? We struggled against teams who play with pace. Mitch/Randle/Barrett are slow AF. Hart plays like a man possessed. Love the dude but he's not blowing by or jumping over anyone in the league. Bully ball and ISO ball worked last year. I like that we keep tweaking and growing with continuity. I hope we have similar success.

Heck, we might see some 4 guard line ups. I still have us at 45 wins and I like the 4-5 seed also

so you think we will be worse than year? Do you remember Evan Fournier was our starting SG last year?

Josh hart gets a rebound, turns around and goes end to end for the layup.
Not athletic?

RJ not athletic? Most of his points to the rim. How you get there?
We struggle against teams with excellent pace? Yep. You mean those teams with better records than us?
We won 47 games. Some teams struggled with better pace struggled against us.
We suck at pace. But we don't suck.

I'm cautiously optimistic. It could be more....it could be less. A lot depends on which Randle shows up. Barrett and IQ have had slow starts to the season, maybe that changes this year? Brunson gives up his body a lot. He needs to stay healthy because we are screwed if he misses extended time. So many variables. I feel good with 45. I don't think we are 50 win team yet and we are a few injuries away from a 30 win team. In short, I'm all over the place and really excited for some Knicks basketball.

RJ claimed that he would be okay with coming off the bench. I respect that.

I would categorize Barrett an Hart as averagely athletic. Grimes seems to have slightly more burst and developmental room physically.

For me Isiah Hartenstein holds great importance. If Heart can play well from midrange and further he can play four off the bench along with Simms as back up center for stretches so the team can play three guards for long stretches. If three players can be better shooters from 3 pt range, RJ, I Heart, and J Hart the team takes a huge step up, three guard lineups won't have a weakness.

I like this group. I would love to see some small line ups- which Thibs probably won't be able to avoid- with Randle at the 5 and RJ at the 4.

There are a lot of scrappy get after it players with Hart, IQ, Grimes, DD.

I hope we start the year the way we finished with Hart because that is a legit 50+ win pace.

I dont know why fans expect different. Are we relying on Derrick Rose to be an MVP? No... its the same YOUNG squad coming back only there's legit reason to think they will be better.

I think most of us and media are seeing it this way. Be it Brunsons numbers AFTER the start of january and Inlcuding Josh. When Brunson emerged it might have coincided with RJ dysfunction from long range. Did he lose his spots to shot and it messed with him? I don’t know. But it happend. But as Jules got hurt RJ got his mojo back.
THis is on THibs to figure this out and get all three on some rhythm, up the pace a bit, and assists to make life a bit easier. RJ found his mojo mostly with Hart on the second unit. Not saying we repeat the past. It speaks to Thibs making adjustments that worked and when playoffs came with Jules hurting the team still succeeded. RJ was able to carry it with his starting minutes.

They have work to do. Its why we tune in!

Occam's razor.

RJ is just an inconsistent shooter. His playoff stats mirrored his regular season stats. Some good games followed by a string of shooting below average.

49% from 2pt land, ~32% from 3pt land for both reg and playoffs. That's RJ in a nutshell so far. Knicks playing 5 and then 6 games against CLE and MIA don't reveal much more than 82 games.

Bending over backwards to create a narrative shouldn't be a thing.

I think we are all hopeful that RJ can figure it out.
