We had success dropping the rotation but it’s a new season

It’s a marathon not a sprint. — do we go to ten guys?

First 20 games, I think he opens up some minutes for McBride, Sims and Roby. See who brings the most intensity to the court.

Depends on the players and how it works

I think Thibs is smart enough to know the benefits of a 10 man rotation and also smart enough to know that an extra win or two during the season can be the difference to home court advantage in the playoffs

Last season it wasn’t working with EF and Rose and the record with and without them supports that

My biggest concern is garbage time. We have to take better advantage of that both for player preservation and development

No because the same problem would exist. There’s not enough minutes for our top 9 with a 9-man rotation as it stands. Stretching it to 10 will make it harder for guys to get rhythm. This isn’t hockey. The 2 centers will split the minutes at that position. Brunson and Randle will get their 34 mpg. The remaining 5 will be left with about 24-26 minutes each. For Barrett, Grimes, Hart, Quickley and DiVincenzo that’s cutting it slim as it is. You can’t go any lower than that.

I would love to see Brunson and Randle at 32 a game quite frankly.

Yes getting them down a bit makes sense. But those minutes would go to the current 5 I mentioned. I don’t think there’s a scenario where it goes to 10 guys if the regular rotation is healthy. The math just doesn’t work.

NO! Why go back to something that clearly did not work? I'm pretty sure Thibs will stick with 9 and just sub DiVincenzo for Obi in the rotation. Of course the chances of all 9 guys playing every single game are slim to none so we will see Deuce, Sims and maybe even someone like Roby but if we are at full strength, we will go 9 as we should. It worked and it's the best way to go with this HC and roster.

Randomly checked the regular season minutes of various players of similar value to their teams as Brunson and Randle - some played a little less and some played a little more but all were in that 33 to 36 minute range. Not saying load management is bad, just that Thibs is no different than any other coach in riding his horses.

Yep. He's been good in SL and G-League at this point. We've seen enough and he'd probably get just as much running with other pros in scrimmages. It's a confidence thing with Miles at this point.
