I would not trade RJ for OG straight up; and I would not trade RJ plus picks for OG

Would trade IQ or Grimes for OG. Use Barrett for 30 mins behind OG and Julius

:)

og is a really good catch and shoot guy from 3 - which is very important in today's nba.

og can also guard 1-5 in the league and just made all defense 2nd team. which is also important in today's nba.

rj is a *decent* guy but he's not a difference maker. he's your 3rd option - if you ask alot of contending teams who they'd rather have as a 3rd option, i bet most (if not all) say og.

his biggest issue is that he misses 20 games a year which is a valid criticism but if he's healthy for the playoffs - much more important than barrett.

if og is eventually knicks bound, then i think the deal is quickley + fournier and 2 frps. you will be able to re-sign him due to all the caa nonsense.

Yo! What’s the vibes in Toronto land these days? Your team is kinda going thru some things.

Back here in the U S of A we about to shoot fire crackers at each other and hope for the best. Some of us won’t have all our fingers after the long weekend.

Could you do something about them forest fires? Like rake some of the pine needles or something? Cloudy outside and hard to breathe

I think so they need a pg. I would say the one of ours,2025 and the Dallas pick. We keep the rest of ours and the Detroit and Milwaukee picks.

I just feel that based upon last season:

Randle, Brunson, RJ, grimes > siakim, fvv, OG, Barnes

I feel that we undervalue our players

Nurse was fired perhaps as he could not get on with that group.
Does not figure to fire him then clean house? Curious.
But then there is the money thing. FVV got his.
Siakim? What does he want next year, and OG wants the bag and the ball.

So with VanVleet gone, Barnes rising, and DiVincenzo on the Knicks, do we see Quickley in a sign & trade for OG?

In spite of Martin being right in terms of the "what does RJ do well?" argument, RJ has taken some steps in the right direction over the course of his career, albeit much of the improvement coming between year 1 and 2. And you can't teach youth and potential, at least in the eyes of trade partners.

If we say our team is built around Randle and Brunson, I think OG is a better fit with the Knicks that the likes of RJ and Obi. At 6'7", 232lbs, he beefy enough to play some PF.

He's a better shooter across the board than RJ. He would also add the element of elite steals on a team devoid of swipers. Thibs liked to use RJ as the main on-ball defender (I suppose to develop him) but RJ his doesn't seem to be adept at poking balls away at least at this phase of his career.

The bigger question for me is who is a better fit and who makes the team better.
Imo, a player like OG.would translate to more wins despite not being as good a scorer as RJ.

Not sure we should trade for OG and don't want to give up on RJ but really believe he is the piece that has to be traded to upgrade the squad,.add a true #1 and elevate the team.

Excuse me hof if you already said this but there’s a thibs fit and a team fit. With OGs catch and shoot, that’s a good team fit. With OGs defense, that’s a thibs fit.

So RJ could be better now or in the long run, but is he a better fit?

This is the downside of collecting and developing good players. Sometimes you have no choice but to sacrifice a good player for a better fit player. Obi was a top 10 pick and we got peanuts for him. He’s a good player but not a good fit.

Plus I’ve had my doubts since day one with RJ and Randle. To my surprise Randle has been a beast and so has RJ (when Randle is out). I can’t remember too many games where both players were efficient together. And I just don’t see a longterm benefit having them in the starting lineup. But off the bench I think RJ can play that ginobli role.

But we need RJ to be a 2 way player with a 3 & D skillset, and that wasn’t his game in college or the pros. This is why I believe RJ is struggling or inconsistent. Seems like in the playoffs he turns back the clock and pretends he’s in college again. Even with Zion on their team, RJ was the guy in the clutch. coach K trust RJ in those moments and he delivers. Does thibs trust RJ? Watching Randles body language when RJ has the ball tells a lot about who Randle trust.

Hey I’m hoping for the best but will not be surprised if RJ is traded for OG. I don’t see the raptors GM getting fleeced by us. He rather let his player walk like FVV did.

I think Brunson is your true #1.

IQ had a better yr analytically than OG.
WS: IQ(6.7) OG(4.7) +IQ
WS48: IQ(137) OG(0.94) +IQ
OBPM: IQ(1.3) OG(-0.3) +IQ
DBPM: IQ(0.4) OG(0.7) +OG
BPM: IQ(1.7) OG(0.4) +IQ
VORP: IQ(2.1) OG(1.5) +IQ
ORTG: IQ(122) OG(113) +IQ
DRTG: IQ(115) OG(113) +OG
TS%: IQ(578) OG(586) +OG

True we need OG's skill set on the wing for 3&D and defensive versatility. But Tor needs IQ's offensive skill set and ability to create at G just as much. IQ as a starter 22.6pts 5.4rebs 5.1ast %47-40-85. OG also has the ability to opt out and become UFA which lowers some value. IQ will be restricted.

IQ for OG would be fair imo. But at most I would add 2 2nds.
