Reporting in fron Rochester, NY: it’s been grey all day and you can smell it everywhere. Outdoor kids sports all cancelled.

Is that different from a typical day in Rochester. I just watched The Most update with Thomas Jane. Just sayin'... try to hold off on the murder/ suicides until at least daybreak. Those trade RJ threads finally caught up to you.

this is wild... in Maryland the sun was shining through the window, well after sunrise, and it looked like someone shined a red floodlight through the window

hopefully everyone gets their heads out of their asses and stops freely dumping their vehicle waste without consideration and start changing their lifestyles or we'll all be headed beyond thunderdome

I live in the pacific northwest, in the hills. Nothing new here, sucks when it lingers.

Everyone on the west coast has definitely had their fill too.

To give everyone a better picture, Ottawa is on the same parallel line as mid-Maine while being directly north of Washington DC.... and the smoke from those fires is way past NYC and past Virginia too?

And this is just the start of the fire season.

I live in the Pacific Northwest too. When we had fires here and in California, the skies was orange red. It really looked like we were living on Mars.

Syracuse, NY worse today. Visibility was under a mile and smell of smoke getting stronger.

Getting on the highway yesterday did feel like I was driving into LA with that hazy sky. Don't know how you west coasters handle it...I'll take the 3 feet of snow instead!

But I now know what the AQI is, so I feel a little smarter from this.

Manhattan was fubar yesterday and about the same today. My lady feeling sick from the particulate matter. The air is an orangish grey sludge. Reminds me a little bit of the week after 9/11.

I forgot you were in Syracuse. I have yet to make it out to Sharkey's for volleyball but probably will this summer. You close to that area?

I'm in Maryland as well, BWI / Hanover area. They mentioned the fires from Canada is the cause, but I have been affected, probably because I work in doors.

Yes sir! Haven't been there more than a handful of times, but suggest getting there early as the courts fill up fast, provided the air quality improves.

Oh, I'm just there for the alcohol, venue and then to watch people who can actually play the sport lol

And I'll try to give you a heads up if I get out there for a weekend tourney - I definitely will this summer - so we can enjoy said alcohol and venue

I was outside and my shadow was almost like I remember from eclipses.

Smoke is noticeable, pungent. I'm here in NJ at the shore near Asbury Park.

Probably not as bad up north.

I know close to the beach, we sometimes get a on shore breeze which might help things out.

Suffolk. The day started out looking pretty nice. Getting hazy out there now.

Might be a good day to teach the dogs how to use the toilet.

Scientists are saying that we will see ice-free Artic summers as soon as the 2030s. That's not going to help.

Like living through one of those dystopian 70s sci-fi films.
