Thibs ain't been looking at the tapes. Even if Grimes is off they defend him like a shooter. They treat Hart like Mitch.

Jalen was perfect except one bad play. He made 14 shots, rest of the Knicks made 13. They let him down

Randle didn't take a quality shot the second half.
Either a bad 3 or tried to draw a foul.

Look, Jalen is one of the best( the best maybe) ISO player in the league. Randle isn't close. RJ is barely even one. We have no offensive scheme. What do we expect? This is as far as we can go with this offense. They double Brunson and all hell breaks loose. Normal offenses take advantage of that stuff, for us it's death. The final play perfectly illustrated our whole offense and how to defend it

That is the reason why he is inefficient. Yet we still ISO him.

A lot of things to second guess but one thing is for sure

Thibs and the team competed hard and played well above expectations

It’s frustrating as hell but let’s not forget to appreciate all the fun they provided this season

Yes im pissed but also grateful. They seem like a great bunch of guys. Hoping for more and better next year

Now that the season is over I can say this. This year has been amazing and we exceeded all expectations. The problem with that is that we overachieved. Overachieving got us to the second round. We can't run it back with this flawed roster. Amazing season considering our expectations but the roster skill level and construction is not nearly good enough to run back.

This team represented this city well, from the toughness and hard-nosed play to the brain dead decision making. I'm proud of them.

What can Randall get us ? What can Evan and picks get us ? What can Obi get us ? What can we get with the MLE and vet minimums ? Or do we bring it back and stress RJ and Hart to expand their outside shots and increase Grimes shot volume ? Bring over Rokas to back up Brunson ? Hey I'm excited

I wonder if thibs went zone would JB be in foul trouble?

Because hart is not confident in his shot he ran away from JB instead of towards him which led to a TO. Grimes would’ve ran over with arms up ready to shoot.

Randle is terrible in the playoffs as a knick. Granted I haven’t looked at his stats but his impact drops right after the regular season. I used to think it was fatigue. Now I think it’s just him.

We need 3 capable PGs available on the roster. If deuce is not ready to run PG then move him to Gleague, put rose on the coaching staff and let’s get a legit backup PG. IQ is a combo guard. Need tha real backup PG. Need IQ to be everything not just a PG…..but a PG specialist behind JB is missing.

Obi looks good with PT. Sound like s broken record but it’s a waste to have them both. Trade Randle or Obi. Trade RJ or Randle. I believe it’s more about the combination of certain players than the players themselves.

Hart looked good during the season. But I’m noticing he looks out of place with certain players on the court. Mainly any high volume half court player or non shooter. He’s a special fit and when surrounded by certain players he turns into draymond green type impact. But if he’s surrounded by players shooting bricks, his half court offense is similar to Mitch or okoro.

Thibs still has some tweaks to make to this offense, in game adjustments, staggering lineups to make sure each 5 is balanced.

Need FO to get us some shooters.

Good season

Make RJ and Hart confident and capable shooters with reps and coaching during the off season. Run Grimes off of screens

that would take an actual offense. Don't hold your breath on that one.

Mitch had the best FT% tonight. Who had that bet on draft kings?

I'm optimistic. Some offensive sets once in awhile not involving isolations is what I am hoping for plus the defense using zone and pressing more often

The good news is Brunson is this good with 0 spacing. Imagine how good he gets when we get some players who can actually hit an open shot.

We don't have an identifiable team offense philosophy. We have the 3 1/1 man pecking order offense, and little else.

Mitch has no offensive capability at all other than a pick & roll, which we don't run much. Grimes needed to be groomed as a Danny Green type player during the year, and given more offensive opportunities even if it cost us some games during the season.

Don't know what happened to IQ's swagger after that Boston game of his.

If I'm Obi, and Randle continues to be a Knick, I get out of NY as soon as possible.

We saw glimpses of what Obi, IQ, Grimes, and Deuce could do...will they ever play in a system that rewards their efforts? Look at the Lakers...two superstars, but the supporting cast is give ample opportunity to do their thing, and star #1, James, has no issue being a facilitator on offense. You build up a team over individual offense during the regular season, and I don't think we ever did that. We had success with our 1/1 style & thought it would be unstoppable, so we wouldn't need our complimentary players to shine. Well somebody f'd up thinking this way would always work.

So few catch & shoot 3s for us this year...That is a sign of poor ball movement and poor decision making by the guys who have the ball most of the time.

If we played up to our capabilities we win this series. I don't think there is a super-team in the East this year. If we had our full team and it was healthy, we could've had a shot in the ECF, IMO.

So many good moments this year, but I end up being disappointed because we should've been able to do better

Hart has like the 2 best % at the hoop on the team. If he was on an offense with cuts to the hoop and passes he would thrive

This is going to be a long one but here is my thoughts on things that they need to improve on.

Leon Rose:
Needs to get more shooting.
Needs to trade Randle. I don’t mean dumping him but he needs to be gone.
Needs to get an offensive star that can shoot.
Don’t overpay for Quick. With how poorly he played in the playoffs, be cautious during negotiations.

Thibs:
Needs to install an actual offense and stick to it in the 4th.
The offense should include player/ball movement
Needs to tweak his defense. I don’t mind the protect the paint and give up 3’s defense in certain situations. If teams shoot as badly as we do that is a fine defense. However, he needs to be able to pivot from that to a different scheme when teams prove they will find the open man and hit the shot.

Pick and choose who to double team wisely. Don’t double on every drive attempt. Don’t automatically double every star player every time. Mix up the coverages to keep them guessing.
Stop bringing the weak side corner defender to try and stop drives they have no way to stop. They are on the opposite side of the court as the drive. All you are doing is giving a free open corner 3.
Be more open to playing without a shot blocking big. Mitch and iHart were mostly ineffective in this series. Thibs did not even think of going small with Randle as the 5 to see how it works.

Brunson
I have nothing to say. He was a superstar and carried us like one would.

Randle
Get him off my team. Effort problems, inefficient, bad/lazy defense.
He would be tolerable if he would play within an offense but we all know that is mission impossible. It is ISO or nothing with him.
Takes too many poor quality shots.
Turnovers the ball consistantly.

RJ
He probably needs to go as well. However, that is much further down the priority list. I would not mind seeing him with a much more open paint area if we get shooters. I will not forget the whole year of trash defense. He generally played well in the playoffs but he could have just been on a hot streak. He has had them before. I need to see him play well on both ends for a full season before I become a believer.
Do anything humanly possible to improve your ability to hit an open shot.
Improve on your decision making. Stop driving into double teams while not making the simple kick to open shooters.

IQ
Learn how to handle ball pressure.
He still has the security blanket of being young but his playoff run was about as bad as it gets.

Grimes
Stop giving up open shots to drive and dish only to turn the ball over. Shoot the open shot.
Improve on shooting.
Improve offensive and defensive IQ.
He also has the security blanket of being young. So I will not kill him for his poor playoff.

Hart
Stop passing up open shots.

McBride
Work on shooting and being able to handle tight ball pressure.

Obi
Work on your shooting. We know you are not a shooter but Thibs is going to have you sitting in a corner so you might as well do the best you can.
He needs to be able to notice when leaking out is not the best idea so he can help with grabbing rebounds.

Mitch
Step a damn hard screen for once in your life.
Stop shooting 3’s in the summer and work on your fts. 30% at one point in the playoffs is a joke and unacceptable.

That's why I'm thinking give this team until trade deadline; no offseason trades. Except maybe for Rose and Fournier; much as I love DRose, if we couldn't even use him in the second unit (with all his experience) against a 37-year old Lowry, either he is really physically shot or didn't stay in shape.
