What might make more sense is a deal for Jarren Jac jr who only plays about 27-28min per. Still only 23 years old
That gives us minutes for Obi who needs it to thrive. His father is a Gleague assistant. The pace without Randle might give RJ more room to grow.
This is not predicated on dislike for Randle, just spitballing how to get better with a 3 year window. Jax JR got serious upside. He won't come cheap.

Mitchell Robinson is the Defensive X-Factor, Shot Blocker, Rebounder and Defensive Anchor that Coach Thibs has always DREAMED about.

Mitch is only 25 and imo already a top 3-5 Center (impact wise) and isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.

Yep and he's a better fit for what Thibs wants. I think we lose the Cavs series of we had Towns over Randle, tho you could make the case that Towns might have had an easier time scoring. But I don't Allen and Mobley become nearly as paint shy.

I think it has something to do with him switching from center to pf. He's fluid for a big guy, but the PF forward position has evolved into a third wing position over the years. Also, he just hasn't gotten much stronger from what I can tell. He's Kristals without the ridiculous height. I still see him get bodied by smaller players.

In terms of Kat. is Kat a great player? Absolutely. Would he be better than JR or MR? Maybe.
I have faith in this FO. No way they are looking to change the front court. Knick fans team building skills will fluctuate game to game depending on how one player played that game. This FO has been really good about understanding team building. As we saw with JHart, they are not just doing deals to make a splash but rather to fill voids. Right now we need a three a D wing. We need a high percentage three point shooting elite SG.
