One can’t just change stripes as DJ did. He really was not a true knick fan as he did not grow up with them I believe.
Not a knock, its just easier for some to change.
Given that, I don’t blame him for realigning his affections for another team. I flurted with the Hornets when as I was here when they expanded and Mourning/LJ was a very formidable front line. But I didn’t. When Nets moved to Brooklyn and they styled it with nostalgia, I was open to it. I had great ABA childhood memories of them but they sold Dr J and moved to Jersey. My knick fandom is and was indelible. For DJ it wasn’t for what ever reason. It wasn’t “Real” for him.
For me it was rooted in the early seventies as a kid.
IM cool with loading up the bandwagon and getting as many new fans on board and make this a thing!!! Bring back others is cool too!
DJ can come back, but he has his championship moment and thats not easy to walk away from.
