i really do not know how the players association is letting this happen. im going to bet a farthing this wont be the last word. in fact, i bet there is a potential work stoppage at any point because of this. while it wasnt as bad, there are comparable instances in the nHL and also vernon maxwell went after a fan in the mid 90s and got 10 games. i dont know how a union will ever stand for this. i mean rodney white was shooting bullets into the air and was suspended 2 games. jay kidd knocked his wife out and got nothing. i could go on--i know this happened at the arena, but i think its drastic and overbearing. are the fans who started it going to be put out of work for a year? kermit washington took a running shot at rudy Ts face and almost killed him and only got two months--kind of wrecked his career from that point. its to radical of a suspension

I don't agree with artest's suspension. He COOLED DOWN after big ben shoved him, he only got riled up because of some rowdy fan. That's not fair.

YES! Artest SHOULD get the season for that. I feel like that's the right decision.

P.S. Ben doesn't deserve 6 but that's a PC move.

What they did was worse than what Sprewell did. Maybe the penalty was too severe. I don't really care, though. I'm not sympathetic to anyone who punches fans regardless of "provocation"

Johnson was the one with the brown suit on WHO SLID IN A PUNCH ON THAT FAT GUY WITH THE PISTON JERSEY ON., supposedly he's on the IR.

I think that's a little extreme. I'm actually on Artest's side through all of this.
I guess 6 is about right for Ben.

Indiana isn't looking too good for this season. What scares me is how good they may be next year. What happens if they end up blowing the season (which right now doesn't seem too far fetched), and wind up with a high pick?

Plus Harrison gets a chance to be developed way beyond what would have happened otherwise. And perhaps Bender too, if that guy isn't simply beyond salvagable.

I have said in the face of trade desire for him that this guy is trouble over and over again.

When you can't control, you let your team mates and fans down. Now, INDY is shot for the season. Up 15pts and and fouling hard is crap. He has shown time and time again he cannot be counted on.

THey get paid a boat load of money to take it. Sorry, thats the game. Fans are *******s, no excuse what so ever for the sorry behavior, but you can't have these Mon-Stars engaging in fighting. At some point, some idiot will stab or shoot a player!

Artest lets his team down!

Indy will get a lotto pick and be even stronger next year!

indiana might make the playoffs - their squad is still good enough to get there.

i respect stephen jackson for coming to artest's aid, and o'neal too. i respect the players and the fans were in the wrong, period.

if indiana doesnt make the playoffs, they better bone up on nbadraft.net right now... and be prepared for some euro-flavor

I would still take Artest on my team. I would love to see the Knicks get rid of TT for Artest and Pollard. I know that's not going to be a popular stance, but I like the guy despite all the suspect conduct and repeated incidents.

I agree case, this team is still good and some teams will take them lightly during the season and they will sneak in some wins.

As long as J O'Neal returns and is having another allstar season they'll be fine. Having an allstar big man on your team is still very dangerous. If anybody, Miami benifitted from this the most the way I see it.

gimme a break...coming to Artest's aid? the guy is 6'8" 240 pounds wailing away at a guy who looked to be no more than 5'10" 170! Jackson came to lay a beatdown on someone, plain & simple.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I'm going to be on the PA's side on this issue. That's too much for a guy who got provoked.
