The Knicks traded for Josh Hart and his first game was 2/11. Give or take, that's about 1/3 of the season, ~25 games, so not a bad sample. At the time, the rest of the remaining schedule was one of the hardest rated schedules around and here is what the Knicks did: Knicks are 3rd in overall record, 2nd in OffRtg, an abysmal #16 in DefRtg, #2 in Net Rating. And that'll be the starting point for next year? They don't have to figure out Fournier or Rose or rotations or new guys (if no trades). And I'd guess that iHart, IQ, Grimes will come back MUCH better next season (or for the full season). Brunson won't have the feel out process. Randle can maybe take another step towards less ISO ball. Obi can step up. https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/advanced?sort=W&dir=-1&DateFrom=02%2F11%2F2023 Quite frankly, I'd be happy without any trades happening until next year.
