Sounds like half a trade request. That drive Mitch took a few games ago was a great tease. If he shows that he can do more than that on offense. I'm guessing the Fam will oblige.

One big change is the addition of two ball dominant players in Brunson/Randle have reduced some of the assisted buckets Mitch usually gets.

Now that I think of it. Mitch might not like getting sent to the second unit either. This tweet might be a tell.

Maybe a sign and trade if Mitch is still unhappy in the offseason?

This really irks me! We're 10 games over .500 you dumb ****! Shut up and play your damn role! You're not Ewing! You can't shoot! Grab rebounds and STFU!

this is fair. Mitch has been here 5 years and never gotten more than 6 FGAs a game. His career FG% is over 70
He's played with RJ for 4 years and watched RJ get 15 shots a game handed to him because he's a lottery pick and the guy is a brick layer.

How about this... lets pass Mitch (and IHart) the phucking ball every now and then? Im not saying make him Embiid... but run a play in the post for him. Geeze. Mitch is 100% right. He's not getting the ball until the guards throw it to him.

I love Thibs and we will see how this plays out. Mitch's beef is fair

This guy kills me with this crap.

He has ZERO offensive game - none, nada, can’t screen, can’t drib, can’t pass, can’t shoot - he does get offensive rebounds.

He has zero post game, I’d he doesn’t have a clean dunk he can barely get his arms up to finish a layup often fumblingbumbling the ball out of bounds off his feet, off his fingers or off the bottom of backboard like last night. He barely runs the floor - drags himself up and down like he’s 45.

Then look at his free throw shooting — now one of the worst brick layers alive, shoots and absolute rocket at the rim at max height of basically 10’1”.

And he wants the ball more - give me a break Mitch.

That's a bit unfair. There is a huge difference between being Ewing and having a play called for you.

This is not rec league. RJ does his job. Mitch has his.
Mitch signed a 4 year GUARANTEED 4 year $60,000,000 contract. Nobody put a gun to his head to do so.
Same for IHart. he signed a 2 year deal for about 16million.
If he wants a trade out, thats for after the season.
My opinion he should keep his displeasure in house.
Maybe put some arch on his foul shot? Just a little?

Crazy, all three of our centers are 24 years old.
Sims is under Knicks control contractually for more years after this.

I like mitch. Keep it in house young man!

I agree with not airing grievances publicly. But I also think his complaint is valid. This is growing and I would like to see him incorporated into those plans. Maybe he needs to work on his footwork or dive to the hoop with a quicker first step. His cuts off the pick and roll look a bit labored and a lot slower than I think he actually is. He and Randle should be able to connect more off the PNR. An active MitchRob that can make plays would be a game changer for this team. Not sure how to get him more involved, but I would love to see some triangle type plays for him with Randle and Grimes. See if Robinson can outlet to Grimes or turn and go up with the ball. I think he has the ability.

Yes.

I do agree it's a fair complaint. He stated this last year too. But as you noted, he signed a new contract knowing the situation. Maybe they promised him a larger role during negotiations? But FO can't speak for Thibs. Whatever the case, you lose sympathy about the status quo after you take the money to stay in the status quo.

If no one else, RJ is consistently looking for him on his drives. Just as likely to throw the lob as he is to go for the layup (that or it just winds up in the same spot regardless).

Thibs, run a few more pick and rolls for Mitch. If this is our biggest problem, we're in good shape.

with all due respect, we actually suggesting how Thibs can better coach Mitch?
Mitch does not say why he is sitting more. Thibs is not going to.
Im not qualified to label his public request fair or not.

Mitch plays hard. His offense has improved. We literally never EVER throw it into him in the post. Ever.

this isn't cam reddish complaining for shots then hitting the side of the backboard. the guy can contribute

and at the end of the day he'll still give 100%

Thats fair and probably the best response.

Mitchy aint no Snitchy. Well he is now

Between Cam, Mitchy and others. Just listen and you will get some insight into Thibs and this team.

If I was the FO, I would only look for Thibs type players. Those are players who plays hard, doesn't complain, regardless of their minutes. Thats why Thibs loves RJ.

shut up Nalod.

EwingsGlass, agree there's a lot we don't see. Despite Nalod's reminder that we dont know everything we ARE still allowed to discuss it and I agree with your points... I would like to see more from Mitch.

He JUST got paid. Its not like he's trying to fluff his #s here, he just wants to do MORE and that's not a bad thing. He gets great position in the post and is constantly under the basket. There's opportunity there.

Not true- RJ passes it all the ****ing time, they're just disguised as missed lay ups and other assorted FGAs.

this. Mitch has is ups and downs but plays hard. Everyone else on the team gets a chance to shoot.

Also here's some perspective. Since "the FO sucks" and "fire the coach" and "we dont develop young players" and "we'll never be normal with Dolan" and "we dont ever use the draft" and "our team loaded with bad contracts" are all kind off the table we having time to bitch and moan and fight about Mitch's tweets. There are good times boys... good times.
