Grimes is 22 and Inconsistant. Not a lottery pick now in his second year has mostly started thruout. He has games were he kills it, and others not so. In all the kid is doing great! Thibs don’t let anyone but Randle and Brunson shoot thru a slump.
Even Barrett has games were he stops. last night he had a few good looks and some “in and out” which is telling to some degree.
But he misses 2-3 he has more games this year where he stops.
If players are not getting other things done they get yanked. Grimes has been finishing. Last night RJ was going good and passing well. Not to say he perfect, but we also saw Deuce stay in a bit longer and hit two threes!
Im not prescribed that regular season seeding is predictor of outcomes, especially come playoff time.
We are rolling with a young team. Two 22 year old start, a 23 year old is a top 5 6th player of the year, and Obi is at worst a serviceable NBA talent. Deuce is also super young and close to being a rotational player if he can get those threes to fall.
Our centers are all young also! No Taj, not inserting Burks, EF on the bench, Drose is cooked. We added solid 26 year old JHart over 23 year old Reddish who might have upside but we needed Jhart.
We don’t have playoff experience. For all the games Barrett has played his role has evolved this year to initiate more offense. With Brunson out he was doing that down the stretch. Duece got good minutes.
I think Grimes is doing great BTW. If his shot is not falling perhaps his confidence wanes too. YOung player, he is getting minutes and experience.
