grimes has got to pick up his game a bit over the next 20 and playoffs. this is a win now team and the 2 guard needs to play a bit better than Grimes has. Id RATHER see Grimes improve but a trade like that is an alternate route since well have a good pick to trade if needed

Im against trading Grimes before next season. Remember that Quickley has one more year in the league. And this has been his breakout year.

Already have made my opinion known about how I believe Grimes should be used. Martin and I are writing a book about it. Fingers crossed on a film adaptation.

IQ has been in the league longer, and he's still coming off the bench. Felt like a more natural progression in the roster, for Quickely to be ahead of Grimes in the rotation. Believe its been a little too much, too soon for Grimes as a starter. But Im still sold on what Quentin brings to the table.

Playing in as many pickup games as possible over the summer, work on breaking ankles, would be my RX.

I agree Briggs I’ve never got the borderline hate for Oubre that some seem to carry.

I’ve always liked his frame, body-type and his overall game for the most-part.

I’d swap RJ for our rotation for a Oubre type player pretty quickly because Oubre seems to fit in rather than stick out like sore thumb in his teams offense.

I know Oubre has a bit of a flair to his personality and not clear if there are off court issues or if he’d ever be a Thibs player but I’ve always liked him personally.

Grimes stays till his rookie deal expires or he's part of a trade for a star... like Grimes/RJ/Mitch for Embiid.
Brunson/IQ/Hart/Randle/Embiid, bench McBride/Fournier!/IHart

Otherwise Grime he stay

I just need a tad more out of that 2 guard role. I dont even need to trade grimes--we could if a great deal was there--but what I need is more over the next 20 games and into the playoffs. I really want Grimes to shoot 38% or better from 3 and give me 12-14 give me more hes got it in him. but if not a vet like oubre could be a different route next year

No, he doesn't.

If the Knicks find a star wing, his role may change or he may be included in a trade, but no, the KNICKS are not going to bail on Grimes in the long-term based on the remainder of 2023.

Briggs i think you're a glutton for punishment

Oubre has good flashes and seems to play with swagger but his stats suggest he'll cause you to pull your hair out with inefficient shooting for a wing. At a minimum he's not someone to target so much as to settle for

Plus when you consider the complete picture like defense, intangibles etc. Grimes is the winner and he's getting better

That said, i agree that he needs to start hitting his shots. He's taking too few, and rushing too many

I have seen CLT 4 times this season and the answer is nope.
Briggs is very impressionable to the moment.
Oubre is skinny undisciplined streetballer who can’t get a long term deal because of it.
Talent off the bench at best. Not good defender. Thibs would hate him.

For what it’s worth Oubre was known as a solid defender earlier in his career. I have mixed feelings about him but he does seem to look good against the Knicks.

He plays well against us because it’s probably his dream to be a knick. He’s self auditioning for his next contract or trade opportunity.

I missed the part about trading Grimes for Oubre but no way on that front.

I do legit think swapping RJ out for a solid all-around 3 is the way to go — not clear who that 3 might be.

Oubre is like Reddish. His is consistently inconsistent. He does not have any major weaknesses to his game but he also does not excel in anything.

And there in lies the rub. Easy to stroke the keys and want a “better than current 3”.
Maybe thats on the table, or the FO and coach are hell bent on seeing him thru. That by choice, by contract, and by pride.

Maybe RJ’s final lessons are as playmaker. He looks like IQ before the light bulb went off. We focus on the gaffs and expect the good plays. RJ is on fans hyperfocus. Some of it warranted, some of it parroting the clickbait blog whores.

Lets look at two extremes on emotionality. On one side. You have NYMentality losing his **** on the positive. Last year you had Macri who became unlistenable to me a long time ago admit his negative anti Randle agenda was taken personally. Why? Who knows, but he quick his law practice to do this full time. Nice guy, but he got bills to pay and perhaps lost a lot of cred along the way.
Before last year we had FrankMania. 4 years of Frank debate, hope, hate, and analysis.
The prediction game offers no reward to either side. The games decide the outcome and fans have no input to FO roster moves.

I could be wrong but I think he quit law to become a teacher. He and others do the Knicks stuff on side.

For me, Marci hasn’t yet fully settled on his voice and lane within the media space. IMHO, their Thibs ranting is kinda stupid but it does follow whatever the pervasive group thought was

Macro is meh to me — seems like a very nice guy and legit Knicks fan.

He has however almost always supported Thibs. Like most of us he was down on Julius but has come around.

Like myself he is mostly down on RJ — like me considers him a poor player by most metrics.
