Ewing is understandable. The Knicks screwed him over but his team has an early game today and he had the class to send a recorded message. Chief triangle on the other hand can choke on his ego. The dude is retired and doing nothing. No excuse Riley you egotistical bastard

ewing has a job.
Phil? Maybe he is not well to travel? He has been absent from the public eye for some time now.
He admitted to having Prostate cancer in 2019. He has back issues. etc.
Maybe some compassion before labeling him?
Riles left under bad terms. The recent book by Chris Herring, "blood in the garden" showed a rather bad side of Riles. Not sure I am as much a fan after reading this stuff. Guy was a bit paranoid also.
He was successful in miami and knicks were not but might want to read that book.
Phil was a knick player for a long time. He gets a pass in my mind. I don't expect all to agree. Sure I wanted him there. The boo's? Alot of folks were not there 50 years ago. I understand.
Wingo died in 2021. Gianelli?

I don't blame Patrick Ewing.

Traded him away to Seattle despite giving up both knees to this Franchise and wasn't allowed to retire and have his farewell in a KNICKS uniform.

I'd always love my NYC fans but I wouldn't forgive them either.

Ewing forced the trade during the season. The FO gave him what he wanted. They could have found a better deal in the offseason, but Ewing wanted it done ASAP.

This deal was unfortunately the begining of the "bad old days".

First off Ewing did not snub knicks. He is also coaching for his life as his program is **** these days. Played Sunday afternoon. So he kind of has a job.
He number is retired in MSG. He is Royalty. He asked out. We did not trade his ass.

And they traded him for aging Glen Rice and trash. That and the Freddy Weis draft pick was the beginning of 2 decades of misery

If we had still had Grunfeld running things the Ewing trade never goes down. Ewing could have b tched all he wanted about wanting another ridiculous contract at 40 years old he had zero leverage and only had one year left on his deal. The problem was Scott Layden was weak and stupid and panicked

Your wrong. JVG would have been gone if we don’t make the finals in 99. Earnie bought in Camby and Ewing was cooked.
Ewing still would wanted out.
Dolan called the shots and was Laydens Boss. GMs/Team presidents work for the owner. Read “Blood in the Garden”. Your a Hofstra law Grad, you can read.

Grunfeld was such a better GM than Layden. Maybe you’re 15, maybe mentally you are 15. All I can do is restate basic facts and you can pretend otherwise. Do I think Grunfeld desperately trades expiring contract Ewing for a bunch of mediocre trash players with bad contracts because you claim to have read a book?

Nelson was fired because he wanted Ewing gone. Ewing was to be a free agent. Dolan panicked and fired Nellie.
Knicks resign ewing bad knees and all. Rumor we might have been able to get shaq.
ewing sulks because knicks want to run. JVG gets the job. Does well.
few more years Ewing knees are an issue. Grunfeld gets Spree, and does the deed: Trades Oak for Camby. JVG not happy. Ewing not happy. Ewings wrist breaks. Team moves on.
JVG has a clause in his contract for 2 year at 2mil each extension if he makes the finals.
He and Earnie are not good. One has to go. Knicks make finals, earnie gets the boot.
JVG now coaching a team not made for his style.
Layden is now GM.
THe whole ****ing point is Dolan is an idiot and runs the team. GM’s don’t make Mcdyess type deals without the owner. This owner has has more GM’s and coaches in 20 some odd years than any other team. One don’t need a book to know any of this, but Chris Herring does a great job putting it together.
Ewing wanted out. He was old and his knees shot. You can boast how much better it could have been with nothing but conjecture as the easy popular thing is to slam Layden which is the lazy thing to do. Everyone knows that era sucked, Layden sucked, Dolan Sucked, and eventually Isiah took that to a whole new level.
