Thibs likes his NINE man rotations.
I am happy with the nine he seems to be including.
Regardless of who starts this makes for a competitive group who are on notice, that if they want to finish the game, they need to impact the game when getting minutes.

Brunson - All Star. Can still improve.
Randle - All Star, who can still improve.
RJ - Alpha who has great work ethic and only 22.
MR - young with great defensive ability. Cornerstone of defense.
IQ - Young and has not scratched his ceiling. Not afraid of the stage
Grimes - Young elite defender who will be a elite scorer.
JHart - Meant for NY. Alpha with endless energy. May be our GLUE guy for years.
Hart - Solid role big off the bench. Still can improve with less fouls and short jumper.
Obi - Uber athletic youngin that is a likeable team guy. If he works on his handle and shot creation this odd season, be can be a high impact player.

Guys on cusp. Ready to fill in if anyone is injured.
Sims - MR 2.0
Deuce - Instant defensive energy. Good potential on offense with improved confidence.
Fournier - Proven pro shooter that will always be ready if called.

Fans should be happy.
Proven stars should see this and feel like they will have a strong support group if they came here

Go Knicks!

I pretty much agree with all that except for Obi. I wanted the Knicks to draft him so bad. I think he needs a change of scenery. He grew up a Knicks fan, he probably has his finger on the pulse of what we all think about him

Relative to years previous, a Knicks fan has to like our current talent level (though they often don’t). Going forward with the addition of Hart it will be interesting to see what combinations on the floor Thibs goes with. The Knicks have lost a bizarre number of close games late or in overtime - is there a formula that gets them past that and becoming a serious playoff threat?

Knicks top 7 we have to feel great about: 2 stars in Brunson and Randle. Plus Barrett, Mitch, Grimes, IQ and Hart. Pretty great group. 4 are homegrown talents. All are 28 or younger. It feels like we can build sustainable success with this group.

C; Mitchell Robinson.
PF: Julius Randle.
SF: R.J. Barrett.
SG: Quentin Grimes.
PG: Jalen Brunson.

C: Isaiah Hartenstein.
PF: Obi Toppin.
SF: Josh Hart.
SG: Immanuel Quickley.
PG: Derrick Rose.

(Deuce/Sims both getting spot minutes).

Look @ my Postseason/Playoffs PG (Healthy & Fresh @ 34 years old).

Derrick Rose.

I believe Coach Thibs is playing Chess (while we're all playing Checkers) because I truly believe the master plan was to keep D-Rose healthy/rested/fresh (throughout the Regular Season) in order to unleash D-Rose (come Postseason play).

Not just saying this after watching just one game but Hart will be a starter come playoff time.

Love Grimes. But imagine Grimes off the bench replacing hart or the ineffective offensive threat.

The three headed monster that is Grimes barrett hart is a second round team when coupled with randle and Brunson and a healthy Robinson.

We get what we need from the bench and we could slip into the third.

But that's knick fan hope.

Right now we are bouncing Cleveland and having a contentious battle with the Celtics in round 2.

Thing is with Obi, it may be more about expectations. Grant it, an eighth pick comes with high ones.
But I feel he will work into a nice bench/borderline starter with continued work and improvement. Grant it, not at pace that some, including myself, would like.

Knicks Offensive Rating (Previous 33 Years).

1990 =16th
1991= 11th.
1992= 22nd.
1993= 16th.
1994 = 16th.
1995 = 21st.
1996 = 25th.
1997 = 20th.
1998 = 26th.
1999 = 21st.
2000 = 19th.
2001 = 25th.
2002 = 12th.
2003 = 20th.
2004 = 15th.
2005 = 24th.
2006 = 17th.
2007 = 23th.
2008 = 18th.
2009 = 17th.
2010 = 7th.
2011 = 17th.
2012 = 3rd.
2013 = 11th.
2014 = 29th.
2015 = 25th.
2016 = 19th.
2017 = 20th.
2018 = 30th.
2019 = 28th.
2020 = 23rd.
2021 = 22nd.

Vs.

2022-2023 = ✨6th✨

Our Offense is straight up 🔥🔥🔥

All I can say?

I think we'll love (whatever) our Rotation becomes once we receive the return of our Shot Blocker, Rim Protector and Thibs Defensive Anchor in Mitchell Robinson because right now our Defense is only ranked 21st in Defensive Rating.

Because if our Defensive Rating was also ranked 6th instead of 21st; we'd easily have a top 5 NBA Record (instead of only having 10th best).

You described Grimes as a young elite defender. However, IQ has some great league wide defensive metrics. IQ and Grimes with Hart are three very good defenders, plus Deuce and Mitch the team has some defensive potential. RJ has been bad defensively has to lose some weight

Think those loses came due to a combination of:
1.Too much hero ball by our top three. Learning to play together and let game come to them will help
2. Drop off with our second unit. Grimes or Hart added will help.
3. Not having that glue guy to do the little things like steals, 50-50 balls, hustle play, big rebound. Think Hart will help with that.

Good point. Forgot to mention Rose. Who has probably helped with teaching our young guns the right culture.

Agreed. Both IQ and Grimes are my favorite players. Think they have huge potential. Especially when filling the need I see crucial to success. Which is elite two way players.

My feeling is that it took sometime for Brunson and Randle to get going and now they are both playing at a really high level. Mitchell Robinson being out the past 15 games or so has been a lot for the team to overcome. Them playing .500 ball without him is a victory. Sims looks good but most advanced stats paint him as a net negative?on the court. I'm really hopeful that once Robinson comes back and with the addition of Hart, the Knicks will be primed to go on a run after the all star break.

I still pray that one of the three Centers can figure out how to score somehow other than being spoonfed an alley oop or a putback. I mean these guys are not even 5th options offensively at this point.
Last night against Jazz: Hartenstein + Jericho total of 8 points, 3 putbacks and one goaltend
Friday against Sixers: Hartenstein + Jericho total of 8 points
Tuesday against Orlando: Hartenstein + Jericho total of 10 points

That's like 6 points per 36 minutes.
Maybe like 2 baskets were non-dunks from Hartenstein. I'm not complaining (overly) but a tiny bit of offensive versatility in the C spot rotation would be nice.

Happy with our rotation.
