The NBA & NFL are a joke these days. Refs are clowns, there is home court advantage calls if you aren't the Knicks. Palming and carrying are rampant, and ticky-tack fouls are okay unless you are a Knick. If the ball is no longer going up, it is a goal tend. RJ did get fouled on that dunk. NBA cries for Lefraud yet justifies the same lack of a call when it was RJ. An excuse like the contact didn't affect the shot is weak, fouls on Shaq didn't stop him, but he was still fouled and got the call. A foul is a foul, for all players all teams. The Lakers complained the whole game, yet still, get calls, Knicks complain, too bad so sad. It takes the joy and flow of the game away, they get soft calls and still complain about everything.

Yet, this team has enough talent to compete, but not overcome these slanted-called games and not for a chip. But, the Knicks are not without their major flaws and it is just sickening to watch these days. Thibs is terrible and does need to be fired. He has no offensive plan other than give it to Jalen and hope either he or Jules makes a basket. Thibs stresses D yet gives play time to guys who can't score a basket and aren't playing elite D, but you can doghouse CAM for most of the year. 3pt D especially on the corner is a joke. Thibs play calling or lack thereof during timeouts is atrocious. How many 24 seconds violations and not even a shot taken at the end of games are enough? It happens too often and I'm sick of it. This team has no 4th quarter killer, NONE. They lack the talent to be a consistent winner. So, in this joke of a league, they are just a .500 team.

Even more issues, this team is lazy, they foul too much, and they foul soft at that to allow repeated 3pt plays. McBrick can go for 20 to 30 regularly in the G League, but can't be relied upon for a single basket in the pros. We have no 3pt game, only needed to hit one at the end of the 4th for the win. They are often outhustled, they stop 3 play shots, but the outhustle leads to an open 3pt shot on the 4th attempt. Sims is a waste, doesn't play great D, and can't create any O unless McBrick oops to him, which is rare.

Randle, despite his tough play, much like a lot of Knicks, has low IQ, takes terrible shots, and doesn't go back on defense, often while complaining, while his guy gets a layup or dunk on the other end. He dribbles into turnovers in crucial moments, which usually leads to a 4 or 5-point swing. Interior D is weak, especially with Mitch out, but still an issue when he does play. Missed FTs kill them late.

In tonight's game, 9 TOs (4 by Jules) should be a win, but 7 made 3pt shots in this league is an auto loss 9 out of 10 times. Grimes forgot how to hit an open 3, RJ looks lost without called plays, and Sims is a non-factor (-16 & 0 pts) on the court yet starting. Obi is misused. Unless they are hiding or avoiding injuries for trades, which I'm sure will be lackluster, there is NO reason not to play Rose, Cam, and even Svi for a needed 3 out of a timeout. I understand EF is too much of a liability on D, but so are several of his replacements and they can't hit the rim. I'd rather have a player who can score and plays weak D than one who can't score and still plays negative defense. They allowed Rui & Dennis to shoot 67% & 57% of their shots and their best game in several, same with Westbrook at 54%. Tired of fringe players coming to the Garden and having one of their better games. No one fears the Mecca, they embrace and thrive there. Yet stars avoid becoming a Knick, they could thrive more often as a Knick in the Mecca for 41 games, but most have no heart.

This Knicks team doesn't have enough offensive talent to be giving up the typical early lead and then play catch-up all game, to lose it late or in OT. They are usually hesitant to take an open shot but the play isn't by design, so they don't know to shoot. Brunson gets the ball, they wing it most plays. They need two pieces this deadline that will crack the rotation, and they don't need to be elite. A 4th quarter specialist and an interior defender who can score some baskets. Without more talent, a 4th quarter killer, and some NBA GD respect, the Knicks will never be relevant for chip consideration. I'm truly sick of watching this same movie play over and over again. Insanity at its worst and it needs to stop some day before I die. Goodnight.

If you were at at comedy club and after 10 attempts to work in a “Zach Wilson” bit to crickets, perhaps you’d get that needed feedback.

Good rant

The trade deadline will pass, and we'll know who will be sticking around for the rest of the season. If there was ever a time that Thibs goes deeper in the bench, this will probably be it. There wont be any mistaking why a player isnt getting any PT, like D.Rose and Cam.

Speaking of Rose. It was a very brief look, but he looked like he was still getting use to playing at his rookie weight. It was a long time ago. If Rose is still around, after the trade deadline. Im guessing he will get another chance to crack the rotation. So will some other bench players. How much of a chance is anyone's guess.

If only we had obtained DeRozan. I sense Thibs won't be fired, a lateral trade for a player or 2 Thibs won't use or use correctly will happen and more of the same the rest of the season. The Knicks will overpay for that move. If we move a 1st with Cam in a lateral move, then the FO needs to go too. They gave up a 1st and a player for him, regardless if that player was terrible, if I recall he was a 1st rounder too. If they attach another 1st or 2nds, that's insanity. Those are the draft capital that could have been used for DM or now OG or someone who matters for talent depth. What was the point of getting Cam? He should get some burn. EF should too just to build up a trade value. EF sets a team record which is what they paid him to do, he gets rewarded with terminal benching. The FO knew he didn't play great D when they signed him.

As light as Rose is, from the little he has played this year, he seems to have no lift on his jump shots and 3s. You would think adjusting to more weight would be more of an issue. For a team that can't hit 3s, having EF, Svi, and Obi misused is just stubborn coaching. The excuse of the EF being a defensive liability that leads to losses doesn't matter much if you are losing anyway. McBrick and Grimes need to be in the gym longer working on their shots. When Grimes takes his time, he shoots a nice shot but when he rushes it is trash and McBrick is useless. Having him on the floor with iHark and others that can't create a shot nor make a reliable basket is playing on the penalty kill in hockey.

At the very least hire an offensive play-minded assistant coach, this team hurts my eyes. If it wasn't for JB, I would have stopped watching altogether this season. He is taking punishment on his body for a .500 team. Lavine or Kuzma might be helpful, but we let their value go up by waiting, mainly Kuzma. But Lavine is killing the 4th quarter, 44% from 3s and 8.9 pts. Give them some combination of Obi, Rose, Cam, and 1st and 2nd. Even 2 1sts if needed, though I think DeRozan would be slightly cheaper and is more well-rounded as a player, just not a 3pt sniper. Hell, if we are dreaming, offer the farm for SGA. Or aim slightly lower with Trent Jr, Grant, Bojan, and Grayson, two of them would have an impact if Thibs uses them. One can dream, but it turned into this nightmare so far.

One thing to note is that before some injuries and Grimes being taken out of second unit, the FO probably saw no need to revamp back up roles.
Seemed like they knew they needed a true number one.
Have to give them time to fill new needs. Right now it seems like we have 5 or 6 players that fit in a playoff roster. We need shooters and a true number one.
Wanted a elite SG. Now I want a true number one, a SG and a SF. All that can hit three pointers at a high click.
Let the FO make adjustments, draft this summer and put some of those picks to use.

Knicks fans have come full circle, now advocating for playing the vet bench guys who are sitting in lieu of playing and developing the long term players on roster and the yoots. Also, trade for a 33 year old with zero timeline for the current roster. Feels like a stance where winning is more important than development and patience.

Their 3pt shooting and spacing is worse than ours. It’s not like we double team anybody. So how exactly is your theory making Hachimura better just by breathing the same air as 2 HOF’ers

You made it up with your develop youth statement when they aren't developing under Thibs. That is a narrow-minded generic viewpoint and you can't have it both ways. Sure, play the youths, if they are producing or at the very least, improving. They are not. McBrick can't make a single basket, his defense is just ok. In his last 55 mins, he has 7 pts. You can't tell me those 11 mins a game wouldn't be more productive given to Obi, then Cam, and lastly Rose. McBrick's stats are pathetic. IQ has improved due to talent, not Thibs. He gets off to poor season starts because of the coaching offensive schemes, then he adjusts to that plan and finds his niche.

Grimes has the potential, so needs the minutes. He has regressed, lost confidence, and/or is just not ready to take the perimeter shot. Plays should be called for him and IQ, so they are ready to take the shot. You also contradict yourself, because if they had been going with youth, Obi would lately be getting more than 11 minutes a night and Cam wouldn't be stuck to the bench with DNP. Obi's corner 3s have been the most consistent on this team (maybe JB), but a team struggling to hit them continues to put McBrick in for those extra 11 minutes instead of Obi. But IQ, please stop forcing full-court passes to Obi, the league has caught on to that gimmick that used to work for the easy highlight dunk.

Sims has 20 points in the last 5 games. There is no play called for him on the PnR, even with McBrick on the court. Sims can't create his own shot, boxes out poorly, and isn't much of a defender. iHart has been better of late, but he can't be straddled with non-shooters. He should be starting over Sims. When Mitch returns, one of the 2 needs to go. Obi on most nights is a better option than Sims.

Thibs wants to win but makes decisions that lead to losses. Sure, losing Mitchell hurt, but this just shows off the team's weaknesses and flaws. Why develop marginal talent for years when they won't be part of the long term? Do Knox, Frank, and others ring a bell? How are they doing since being freed from the Knicks? Oh, they still marginal bench players on new teams.

Sacrifice marginals to bring in a long-term piece or two, Thibs will only go so deep with his roster regardless. If we are committed to Randle, RJ, Mitch, IQ, JB, and Grimes, that is 6. Use the rest and maybe picks to get 2 more. Or go all in and get a star. Stars attract stars. We can fill the bench with others. Like him or not, Melo is better than most of our bench guys and he is out of the league right now. Though some may be retired or playing overseas, there are free agents to consider to fill the bench after deadline moves, like Howard, Whiteside, Melo, Aldridge, M Leonard, Bjelica, Bazemore, and McLemore. I'd even take on Westbrook for the right price and then get that star in the off-season, maybe 2 with the freed-up cap space. No, it won't be easy, never is, but it can be done. Giving Thibs more talent won't change how he poorly coaches out of timeouts and his weak offensive game plan, but we would win more consistently to attract long-term talent for the future.

Further proof Thibs isn't the guy.

Tom Thibodeau after loss to Lakers: “We’ve got to shore up our defense”

He only thinks defense. The Knicks have the worst OT record in the NBA and most games are nailbiters even if they do win in the 4th. The problem is a lack of consistent scoring to hold or extend leads, not defense in those close wins and tough losses. Why can't this coach learn?

I can't take you seriously if you just make up random statements that have literally zero thought in them.

Like this: Just take McBride's minutes and give them to Obi. They play different positions, for one. There is a certain level of development that goes on with not perfect play, and that seems to be your expectations: perfect development. And then when a player does wildly get better like IQ, you improvise and just say it's all IQ's talent.

It's a very pedestrian look at things.

Rant on brother, it's a good outlet for you.

This has been a wild season across the NBA, tons of second tier teams with records that hover around .500.

Knicks are top 10 in Offensive Efficiency. Top 10 in Net Rating. Shockingly, they have dropped their defensively rating to only a middle of the pack team (could be a Mitch missing thing).

Tied for top 10 in record across the league, in a tight race after the top teams.

What is your expectations for the team? Like you are satisfied only with like a top 3 team in the East?
