...that can drill an open shot, or we're not passing the ball enough to get shooters open enough.
But vs. Washington tonight there are multiple shooter that were drilling outside shots while we were shooting blanks (common theme lately).
I'm still hoping Grimes will be able to eventually be a cold blooded outside shooter, but he's not there yet. Yes he hit 3 of 7 from 3pt tonight, but it didn't feel like it.
Washington shot 38% from 3pt, Knicks 28% - putrid

Does any opponent feel worried when RJ has a wide open 3?

JB is now our best 3pt shooter. He’s been nothing short of outstanding.

Randle has hit a wall of sorts.

Obi was one of our best shooters - probably still is, but can’t seem to get anything going in the 12 minutes of game time he gets. Honestly, he should be getting more time and the 2nd unit should look to set him up.

And to answer your question- we really don’t have that shooter that will make an open shot 100% of the time.

What is thibs offensive system? I’ve heard several answers and each answer is different. Phil Jackson everybody knows his system. Other coaches might run the Princeton offense. I think I saw our guy run a weave. But for the longest time, I complained about thibs lack of structure on offense. So the players play to their strength. And right now our big 3 likes ISO ball or pick and roll. But the team we play seems to dictate the offense.

But can anybody explain his offense in one sentence?

ISO and if not hopefully Brunson finds an open guy.

And thats my point. Everybody has a different answer. Which means the offensive structure or system is not clearly defined. And thats to be expected when you hire a defensive coach to manage a team built around defensive challenged players (JB, RJ, Randle) who also consumes the most minutes and takes the most shots. This team isn't built to meet Thibs rotation / minutes approach. I think it's perfect for the playoffs, but can be tiresome during the regular season. And it's probably an indicator at the level of conditioning needed in Thibs system.

Sure add more players if you like. Trade Deuce and add a better offensive player. Fine. Now what happens if Thibs continues to use his 6 or 7 man rotation? Because it's clear when everybody is healthy, a short rotation works.

So is it Thibs who doesn't trust his bench? or is it the starting unit who cannot handle the workload/mins.

When did fan responses become the definition of what offense is being run or not being run?

And we don't have passers who will find the person with an open shot 50% of the time.

Another 15 Assist for 40 baskets game.

Yeah, guys have to make the open shots, but I've seen Toppin, Grimes, and McBride hesitate to take open 3 point shots...

We have our big 3...and then IQ, to some extent, who isn't afraid to shoot, but we've become an isolation 1/1 offense at this point, with limited participation by everyone but the 4 players I mentioned (more so JR, RJ, and JB).

We have a tough team, but I don't see any "system" on the offensive end, and this will eventually catch up as the season moves on and guys wear down.

In theory, if we had a consistent system, you would see the same offense played by the 1st unit and the 2nd unit. When we had an expanded rotation, the 2nd unit seemed to have more ball movement, and that was when a guy like Obi had more success.

I saw IQ look Obi off when Toppin had an open 3. IQ drove and made a tough shot, but I remember some frustration from Toppin. Same game I saw Grimes make an off the ball cut to the basket and the person with the ball (forgot who it was, but it was one of our big 3)ignored his effort.

Sadly we are reaching a point which reminds me of the worst of Melo ball...JB, RJ, or JR work for their shot while everyone stands around a watches.

Very frustrating to watch.

Grimes barely gets any looks, Mitch & Obi rarely get easy buckets, it’s the same iso all the time and it’s not going to change.

Thibs isn’t going to run an offense unfortunately

Bleck. I wouldn't trade for Trae Young if he fixed his hairline.

Best shooter that would be available at the deadline is Bojan Bogdanovic from the Pistons. They would likely need to give up a first rounder to get him, and he's old, so I don't know if makes sense. But that guy can really shoot the basketball and also score in a lot of other ways. Honestly he has been quite hard to stop this year. And unlike most guys on the Knicks these days he can also can knock down free throws. I actually think he'd go a long way in improving the team, but not sure its a great move long term.
