It will be hard to find equal value player for a peak Randle in a trade. So trading him now would make sense only if:

1) We believe a peak Randle won't last, so we should get a player who may be worse than a peak Randle, but is more consistent, plus allow us to rely more on Obi at PF in the long run
2) We trade him for a gazillion of unprotected first round picks

In either case, trading Randle now would mean a beginning of another rebuild, this time around a core of RJ, Obi, JB and Robinson. Hence, a Randle trade would make the most sense before this season's deadline, after which the Knicks can tank and try their luck with winning the top pick to draft Victor this coming offseason.

Are some fans so intent on being “right” then the team succeed?
No, we are not contending and he is not a carry the franchise star. But who is and available?

Saw a blog posted knicks and Indy engaged in Toppin Talks. Mostly pick talk?
Indy thinks he fits their style well. I like Obi and his energy but also reacognize his age and desire to be established and get paid. With Randle back to where he should be and potential Allstar this is inevitable.

Randle is playing great. There's also a real upside to Randle's game that isn't talked about enough. Plain and simple he gives up the ball. While he may pound/hold it he's no black hole and even when he's scoring a ton he's still moving the ball and looking for shooters and cutters.

Randle looks just as happy making the great pass as he does scoring. He's really integrated well with Brunson and the guy he's showing more and more chemistry with is Grimes.

The redemption tour is a hot ticket... keep it up Jules.

He is a legit load to deal with right now - tough matchup for both bigger/smaller wings just playing great all around.

One thing I’ve mentioned in past is Julius is so physical- without him we really become a finesse team — he has a downhill aggressive demeanor to his play style and right now very fun to watch.

I’d just like to find a way to find 2 players - a defensive minded long 2/3 and the same type as back-up PF.

Yes we probably need scoring off the bench as well but realistically find 2 legit long bench defenders

The natural thought process with Indiana might be Obi for Duarte where Knicks add more ball handling ‘ defensive wing but Duarte been playing crappy at least recently— I actually liked the way Nesmith played and defended Randle when we played Indy.

We signed him at 25 to the Fizdale squad and he wasnt bad. The team sucked, Randle played hard. Then we get MIP and 4th seed Randle. Then we get a grumpy 20/10/5 on a team with a lot of problems. Now are getting all star Randle.

Randle's been good here. Hopefully its more of the same "reverting" feels so negative. We all thought he could be better. So did he. Look at how's it's played out.

People were desperate last year to paint the Randle/Thibs combo as bad but it seems to be working ok short and long term

it sucks Cam didnt pan.. that's the "type" of guy. Like Middleton... a long wing who can defend bigs also.

Iggy wasn't breaking down. He was still in his prime when they shipped him. By reverting I mean returning to being sub par. His entire career has seen one good season followed by one bad season. He fooled me once. Let's see him carry forward into future seasons. I hope he does. Still think we should trade him.

You have a 25/10/5 two way forward who's 28 and shares the ball. Who are you getting back that helps us? Randle is literally playing his way into being untradeable. The way Randle shares the ball you just need to upgrade the guys around him... Or trade him for Luka/Giannis/Bam
