I posted this in another thread but if I could make the Curry deal for Sweetney, Moochie and cash it puts you in good position to go after Stro Swift in the offseason.

Use your #1, Nazr's expiring deal and cash in a sign and trade for Swift. Then by the end of next year you could be looking at something like this:
pg Marbury 28
sg Crawford 25
sf Ariza 20
pf Swift 25
c Curry 22
bench: Houston, KT, JYD, Frank Williams? (I dont include Penny and TT because I'm letting their $30mm just come off the books)
Especially if your in the "we must rebuild" philosophy its hard to argue with that line up

Penny makes sense for Miami if he doesn't resign with NY.

If we got Swift, that would definately soften the thought of losing Sweetney.

look.. this team just underwent a massive housecleaning. Sweetney, KT and Houston are the only holdovers from the start of last year. Thats unprecedented. There will probably be some more. I like Sweetney but its easier to add an athletic shotblocking 4 if you already have your 5, than it is to add the 5 because he have the 4.

How does the first trade put us in a position to go after Stro Swift? You can use your #1, Nazy, and cash to get Stro anyway. Are you saying you'd do that deal only if we have Curry at C and can afford to lose Nazy? I wouldn't take that position because regardless of getting Curry, with $40 mil in expiring contracts, we'd be able to find a replacement for Nazy

Regarding the question of this thread, I generally like Isiah's approach to rebuilding. One of my few disappointments in Isiah is that he didn't get Ariza's Bird rights. Now, the *best case scenario* is that we use up our MLE on him (rather than already having him locked up and using it on another need) next summer. I also wouldn't use a roster spot on Sundov.

However, I support the three big trades he's made and like his aggressive approach to getting young, athletic players when possible.
