I missed post game... is this a thing now?

Hope so.. I have always said RJ is a real plus at SG and very pedestrian at SF. Playing him next to Cam is perfect. Of course that outside shooting for RJ/Cam/Randle is wildly inconsistent but this should really help our defense

Reddish is inconsistent but he has played well the last few games so he kind of wins the spot by default since Grimes hasn't been healthy and Fournier hasn't played well. Reddish just needs to get more consistent and pick up his shooting. This is a golden opportunity for him to get that second contract.

The funny thing is I think RJ is listed as SF and Cam as SG last I checked the lineup.

he's not the shooter Bullock was for us but he's literally better in every other facet and very very young. Cam is 23. I mean when you see him play well he's eye popping. He's got the length and speed that cant be taught

I think the coaching staff it starting to put Cam on particular players the way they did with RJ but I could be wrong on that, and then they hiding Brunson on the least punishing guard/SF.

So RJ/Cam or kinda interchangeable SF/SG

The 9-man rotation is a welcomed change and should give guys like Cam better rhythm out there.

I think it'll bump back to 10 once Grimes is healthy and not playing back to back games. Him cutting into RJ's minutes would be welcome IMHO

Thibs never makes changes? He does.
Are they fluid? Likley. Permanent? Depends.
Did his assistants aid in the lineups? Who knows.
Does it kill trade value. yes and no. Other than Brunson and Maybe RJ are expendable for the right price.
For the right player, I would imagine RJ is also.
For the moment Cam has won the job. Grimes off the bench can go after it and he will be given a chance. For now he needs to up his minutes and get in shape.
Is RJ a bit ill these days?
Team is .500. Future always uncertain.
Our starting center has missed 5 games now. It matters. All teams get injuries. A lot more games to go.
Mabye LA makes us an offer for Cam we can’t refuse? Buh bye.
I watch too much knicks and not enough other teams to value our guys properly.
I like our guys. But changes are coming over time. Its obviously inevitable.

Thats a good point. Because Cam took Fournier's spot, one instinctively thinks he's the 2. But he's big enough to play a SF. Could also play the 4. Just out of curiosity, I wouldnt mind seing a small ball front court of Obi/Cam. When another team goes smallball. That would be one fast frontcourt.

rather see Obi play 3 and go big like Milw does.

Reddish https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/cam-reddish-shot-chart

Barrett https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/rj-barrett-shot-chart

Randle https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/julius-randle-shot-chart-this-season

Brunson https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/jalen-brunson-shot-chart

I don't think anyone is being particularly efficient on offense. With the exception of some really bad looking shots, I think Reddish has been taking shots from the right places on the floor.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Obi's footwork is nowhere near good enough to stick with SF's. He has trouble sticking with PFs

The one thing that really sticks out with Knicks players this season is the type of shots they are taking. Rim and 3pts, with the obvious exception of Brunson.

Who would you have at the 5?

What I like about Obi at the 5 is that his 3pt shooting now is good enough to draw defenders out of the paint. Also like that Obi/Cam can get buckets in ways our other bigs cant, or have yet to show. Like Hart's 3.

This is my "lab" lineup, experimental.

Obi
Cam
Grimes
Quickley
Brunson

Id put that up vs. other smallball lineups across the league. All those players can create their own shot, and get hot from 3. Also an above average defensive lineup.

depends on your definition of stick with. He does a lot of things right and he's very long. He's got some margin for error on smaller guys if his fundamentals are good. I dont need him to be Kris Middleton, but Obi's strengths are open court and spot up 3s. Where's he getting the most of those? 3

Cam is the wing that we've been looking for in a while....That explosive, fluid athlete with length that knows how to improvise. Love his progression. You can see the confidence growing...The wing spot should be locked up.

Whoever said Thibs doesn't make changes, haven't watched any knick games.

What Thibs lacked was in game changes or real time flexibility.

But Thibs has also showed everybody that an "Old Dog" can be taught "New Tricks". Thibs has proved to most, he's willing to make changes and benching EF was the most recent example.

The problem I see with Thibs holding Randle accountable. Thibs has no problem with anybody else, but Randle with this special treatment is the issue for me. Not sure how long that will work, regarding team moral, when Obi for example is forced to sit for various reasons. But he watches Randle from the sideline get special treatment.

Other than that, Thibs is doing what he can with the roster he was given. So it's not all on Thibs, you have to point to the FO as well.

In addition, another strength that Obi possesses that I don't think we exploit enough is his vertical game. Would like to see Obi and Brunson run more PNR's...

Real time flex is good as long as it works. If not, its not really notable?
Good points to look for.
The Randle Accountability thing might be true, or the exectations that Randle is slowly working thru on court things and improving. We don't know as fans what are the smaller details that Randle is trying to do? Why does obi get the hook? and what about a game plan that the team is set on? I have more questions than answers.
But I agree about expectations. This team is not that good. My bar is not high for this team and losing games sucks, but to be expected.
As the pundits say "Knicks are improved vs. last season but so is the eastern conference".
With an eye on a future the FO could have leveraged it more to be better this season. We getting into the abstract on this. Some teams like the nets and Lakers have over leveraged that future.
Lets just say if knicks did what nets did and were failing I think it would be a blood bath publically.

I posted elsewhere that other than the Timberwolves we are the worst franchise in the last 20 years. Not subjective. Its real total wins and losses.
Glad we beat Jazz but it was not pretty. This team is not easy to watch. Randle and RJ are not easy to watch.

Has Cam won the starting SF spot?
