Would you guys unload Randle and replace with Kyle Kuzma this summer ?

Just thinking here. Kuzma was Leon Rose’s former client. He’s a free agent this summer. While he isn’t any better than Randle, he provides better spacing and more defensive versatility and can play the 3 and 4 so he doesn’t positionally block Toppin the same way Randle does. We would have to use protected picks to unload Randle and Fournier, and let rose walk, but there’s plenty of cap space if we do that. Is that something you see Knicks doing ? I love the fit but I question if it moves the needle. It allows brunson and Barrett to sort of have the offense run thru them and Kuzma becomes a true third option while freeing up Toppin.

By no means am I suggesting to “dump” Randle. I’ve always been someone who doesn’t believe in that. I am looking at it as more of a potential upgrade for this particular roster and a compromise for the “free Obi” side.

backwards thinking... we dont need to get rid of Randle. We need to upgrade him. We all love Obi but he follows good games with stinkers and that just is what it is.

The guy to look at is Anthony Davis. He would allow you to consolidate some of your pieces with a swing for the fences upgrade

Randle BRINGS that every night for better or worse and you need that on a team. You need your bigs beating up on teams and making them feel you. Randle brings the force and elbows and chicken wings and he gonna lay that on you.

Watch him play. He has been frustrating to fan bases in LA and Wiz
Think it is a better suggestion than most I have seen in terms of trade ideas though.
For me, it is a lateral or net negative trade.
Not sure of his trade value if we decided to move on from him. Trade value gets hurt when teams continue to move on.

And while we have surely seen him float on defense he's not a loafer, he's a banger and that just sucks to play against. Its like body blows in boxing. RJ does it also and its the main thing I like about having them as a pair. WHEN they score with reasonable EFF% they are so effective because they just hammer you all game. Its a great combo to have with length (Mitch/Cam)

This is a huge reason the Warriors dont with **** without Draymond. Butler/Bam are relentless. Its not pretty but its a huge plus in Randle's game and surely helps.

You’re absolutely right. That’s a huge factor. Randle has his issues but that’s a positive trait. And I’ll give Randle credit. He didn’t request a trade or just throw in the towel. He’s making a conscious effort to fix all of last years issues. Not like he’s a completely different player but you can tell he’s not content just being an albatross contract.

you are right in the team needs and the often awkward fit of our starters. The problem is the guys in the NBA who might be available and have better fitting skill sets like Kuzma or Myles Turner arent better than the guys we have. NBA talent is wildly niche.
